chuck04 Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 Also, i realised that when i activate the radar some information that i had from awacs or ewr like range and aspect of target dissapear when they use jamming. It's logical that the hud present the jammed marker to indicate the launch state but for Situation Awarness that's stupid. The speed and altitude given by the relative size of icon is also a stupid thing, i can't believe it, then no info relative to the volume scanned by the radar as in the F15 at the cursor position... are they so stupid really ? no aoa protection for negative g and nose down, revert and you fall like an autumn leaf... ? Depending on trim the amount of input that put you in this often unrecoverable position is different... the rwr that ring when someone else is locked ? or when you receive friendly radars? Really to be a russian pilot against us or european fighter needs a lot of courage... or suicide ambition...
Darkwolf Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 For the lock, that's simple - The attacker emit a beam of radar wave in the direction of the target. However, that beam isn't like a millimeter wide, so aircraft flying in close formation will also "receive" this beam, hence think they are locked too. When locked, separate from your wingman to understand who is under attack. I prefer the Russian RWR since it display emitter power, which can help you determine the range.
