Harpoon Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I really hate to be a...err...how do you put it...grammar nazi, but the description for the module when you look at it from the main menu says that the MiG-21 was made in the "1950'ies." I find this odd though, because if you say it out loud, it sounds like "nineteen fifty-ies." If you don't want to fix it, that's fine, I just wanted to point it out. Thanks for reading, if anyone did. If you want to talk to anyone about anything personal, send it to their PM box. Interpersonal drama and ad hominem rebuttal are things that do not belong on a thread viewed by the public. One thing i have to point out... naming a thread.. "OK, so" is as useful as tits on a bull.
mpdugas Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 DCS is a really interesting social experience. So many people from so many varying cultures and backgrounds, trying to communicate effectively in what is for some, a very difficult foreign language, namely English. It is quite the mongrel language, and only follows what rules it has part of the time, being a true internal-polyglot. When writing here, I am always mindful that I may not be talking to someone from my local area; makes me thoughtful about how I approach any given concern. The old saying, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" is really hard to figure out here, since there are so many different 'Romes" to be had in these forums. That said, there are often English grammatical errors afoot, but most folks here speak and write English better than almost any other foreign language that I might attempt, except, perhaps, a bit of German now-and-then. However, most English speakers/writers would probably use "1950s" to accomplish the same thing. 1
