Kobymaru Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Hi! According to the manual and the tutorial, the launch authorization lights (CU 40-42, red box in the screenshot) should light up when I am allowed to launch an IR missile. However, as you can see in the screenshot, I have my weapons in IR mode, the pipper is on the target and I hear the lock sound - but no launch authorization from the lights! What am I doing wrong? Also note that in Johns video ( ) none of the authorization lights light up either. Could this be a bug? Edited March 12, 2015 by Cobra847
zaelu Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) In the manual it says that light 1 and 2 are for left and right RS-2US missile seekers lock confirmation and the bottom light is for an R-60 missile seeker lock confirmation... any of them on any pylon. What missile you had loaded? I think you should shoot! :D Edited January 3, 2015 by zaelu [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
Hadwell Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) I don't really care what it says in the manual, in practice, the top two lights only turn on with R-55s and RS-2US (seem to be the same missile, just different trackers), and they just tell you you have the missile selected, it's not launch auth and at least I've never seen the bottom light up. any other missile, if you see the pipper wobbling around following the target, that's launch auth enough, assuming you've iff'd the real launch auth lights are the two big red lights on the left side of the radar screen, and require you get a radar lock... but totally useless since you can usually launch long before they light up. What missile you had loaded? It was the AA-Missile training mission, and it seems I am too stupid to figure out the load-out from the mission editor :helpsmilie: I think you should shoot! :D Don't worry, I did! Good to know. Are you a Mig 21 pilot? Also, if that's true, then the manual/tutorial needs fixing.

Also, if that's true, then the manual/tutorial needs fixing. no, but pretty much the only plane i fly in DCS is the mig-21, and i meant specifically the leatherneck mig-21, in practice... i have no idea how they work in real life. Harle Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Yeah right. What's the actual f*ck with this tutorial telling me that those lights shoud be up and shining when the pipper is wobbling on the target? They won't even blink for once!
