giaco1 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 hello everybody, is it possible in your opinion to connect a real GPS device, like a Garmin 60, to DSC world using a NMEA in/out protocol? It could be an interesting feature to use on Huey or Hip for a better and real navigation! Thx a lots my best regards. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

LNR212 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 ...fly visual, like pros. If you want to fly in Vietnam or cold war area - yes. But these days: best use of equipment ;) And yeah, it would be awesome to connect somehow a gps or a android/iOS Tablet wit Nav-software like air nav pro. Or at least a moving map with google maps. Im using this with X-plane and works perfectly. Should be no big deal to export gps-coordinates from DCS...
Einherjer Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Sounds funny - a handheld GPS overlay would be enough for me
Holton181 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 @giaco1 @USMC_Trev Yes you can connect a real GPS to DCS World by sending NMEA sentences. I have done it my self with some LUA scripting and NMEA GGA and RMC. Conection through Bluetooth or UDP. Actually used my android phone as the GPS, but a real one should work as well. But it isn't very useful. The reason for that is the fact that DCS World really isn't a good representation of the real world geographically. I use the coordinates given by the sim in Lat/Long and that place me between 400m up to almost 1km off on the GPS, depending on where on the map I am. If somebody finally find out how to convert DCS coordinates to real world coordinates this script might get useful. Also I did not find how to export the ground speed or true track used in RMC. I used TAS and calculated true track with a formula for real earth calculations (i.e. not really correct). Holton, Post your code I'm looking at this right now and this would be a cool way to test. Edited February 23, 2015 by vicx
