I LOVE that he's listening to the JTACs.. who else would know better?!

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

From what I know about Ash Carter (having worked in Defense Acquisition), this is no surprise. He has always pushed ways to streamline the acquisition process, reduce waste, and make sure that the servicemen get what they need and the taxpayers get the most bang for the buck. With waste being the norm rather than the exception (combination of some unscrupulous contractors and equally lazy government program managers), his attention to the matter was welcome.

He's also a very smart guy, so I'm sure he sees the false dilemma of the F-35 vs. A-10 as exactly that.

I can tell you our ears are perked up. But saying that as good as he is it won't matter as he will fall. Victim to the same fate as his previous secretaries. Should be pretty obvious right now who the challenge will be to get things done and in the right direction.

No question about that, rcjones.

I was surprised to hear of his nomination because he's not known to be political, and he's a relative unknown outside of the acquisition community. However, with the way the last 2 SECDEFs went, no politician with higher aspirations would go near that position in this administration with a 10 foot pole.
