Ever wonder what Sochi looks like from the flightdeck of a Boeing?

You are about to depart from the Black Sea resort of Sochi (URSS) with a plane full of holidaymakers on their return flight to Krasnoyarsk . The weather is: wind 030/15, temperature 28°C, QNH 995mb. Runway 06 would be ideal – but it’s closed. So you will have to make do with the 2197 metre Rwy 02. Krasnoyarsk Express performance manual says you can do it as you are just below the RTOW of 169,000 lbs. As long as you carry out the short-field take-off technique and make a 10 degree left turn airborne you will clear the ridge and the hill beyond it. Watch out for the block of flats at the end of the runway!
