RoaringBones Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Did this model have the same essential equipment as the Sabre? or was it a prelude to it? I'm just curious
VincentLaw Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Based on the F-86, but only 25% commonality. Some distinguishing features are the big radar in the nose, the afterburning engine, and being armed solely with unguided air to air rockets. It was designed to intercept bombers and nothing else. f86enthusiast Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Definitively the ugliest Sabre developed. Aggressiveness was a fundamental to success in air-to-air combat and if you ever caught a fighter pilot in a defensive mood you had him licked before you started shooting. — Captain David McCampbell, USN, leading U.S. Navy ace in WWII

Ahh ok, yea some A-7 like features in the front. heh
1.JaVA_Platypus Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The F-86K would've better functionality! (20mm guns and two sidewinders) Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
