Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) If I have the cloud filter on and the ground filter on, or even both on, does that make the probability of detecting and enemy plane go down? If the planes is notching or flying low or just at the maximum range I can imagine it would. I sometimes hesitate to turn on the filters because I wonder if I will find it harder to detect targets. JorgeIII Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Im not aware of any lost in sensibility, its not described in the manual (DCS and real) and I haven't noticed if its there. That being said, I have asked the same question for my self since the mig was released and I try not to use them if I don't need them, just in case. AKA TANGO-117. DCS Modules: most of them, proficiency: only a few at a time. The most crucial aspect of a simulator is its realistic physics and precise aerodynamics, accurately reflecting all flight conditions.
gezahu Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 It should, otherwise it would be on all the time. I don't think it is simulated in DCS it would be way too complicated.
ttaylor0024 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I wouldn't think it would be enough to be noticeable. A radar return on a cloud is a lot weaker than off a hard object such as the ground or another aircraft. I always fly with the WX and ground filters on.
