Saitek pro flight pedals.

I purchased a set of Saitek pro flight rudder pedals yesterday from Amazon. Used but like new in the description. And am having a torrid time getting them to work. I have installed the software. Can't see any malfunction type symbols in device manager. But in the calibration my PC will only detect my toe brakes. I cannot get the rudder axis to work despite moving the rudder axis. What does happen though is I get full left rudder show in the calabration software when toe brakes are applied and this stays on.

I have read something about the pedals can get locked but wondered if anybody else has any experience of this. I'm not sure if I should attempt to fix them or just send them back. Any help would be appreciated gentlemen.
