Demon_ Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I suggest that Nvidia shall give us a video card for free, like a Gtx970, etc... To try! Not to play! Only to put in our case. :idiot: Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.

lunaticfringe Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Here's a fun idea- lemme start up a fighter jet! Not take it out for a spin- just start it up. It'll be "fun". All the foreplay with no release amounts to DCS: Blueballs.

Krunkskimo Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 In order for this to work you would need some sort of always online system which is how the previous examples control their content and i don't think the community is big enough or would welcome it.
FlyingHighAU Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Or, aka instant "uninstall this *teasing b*", *click* Sure if it was done in a sneaky way, but if you know ahead of time, and it is stated very clearly and consistently, the customer would not have any reason expect otherwise. Think of it as getting into a car at a car dealer ship. You even get to take it for a spin there too. Nobody get's angry for having to pay if you want to drive it everyday :). You wouldn't buy a car without at least sitting inside it first. Sure DCS modules aren't as big an investment financially, but time wise, they probably are quite a big investment. In order for this to work you would need some sort of always online system which is how the previous examples control their content and i don't think the community is big enough or would welcome it. The way I would see it working is this: Download DCS World with the free modules as you do now. You want try out another plane, download the module files as you do now. This lets you do everything, except fly/taxi/move etc (and probably disable ground master arm to prevent trolls if online is allowed!). The code is simply not there to perform those flying/moving/taxii'ing actions. Once you decide you want to buy the module, press ESC and click the buy button, it takes you the ED website and purchase as you do now. This downloads the few megabytes of missing code to enable flying, and the protection/activation software. Activate the module as you do now, except it only activates the few missing pieces, required for flight. Basically, the only difference in the way this would work vs. how it works now, is that you are using the activator to enable only the flying portion of the module, rather than the entire module. (it's probably not that easy on the back end, but to my brain, it seems like it's just a matter of telling the activator to enable a few different files to what it does now).
