nickexists Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Even relatively simple missions can sometimes require the use of 20+ triggers. It would be great of mission designers could organize these triggers into folders. That way when working on a particular aspect of a mission you could minimize all the other folders and It would be much easier to focus on the triggers in question. This would also greatly improve the ability for other people to understand what was going on in a given mission. This wouldn't change anything about how triggers work, it would be purely cosmetic.
Belgeode Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 That would be a really cool idea. I'd go for it... Then I only have to remember what flag number I have assigned to what. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] YouTube ~ Twitch
Wrecking Crew Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 That would be a really cool idea. I'd go for it... Then I only have to remember what flag number I have assigned to what. ... This flag scheme will give you an idea for setting up flags in your missions that directly correspond to the group/unit. Missions should have structure! Take a few minutes to name the groups. Save the mission, advance the version number, and name the rest. Here is two-digit group numbering example for the group naming and flags. Belgeode Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hey Wrecking Crew. Yeah thanks, I already use that system you linked above. Good deal.. does not make it any easier for me to remember numbers though. Just makes me more organized so that when I FORGET what number I have set to what, I have a starting place to look it up. And yeah, I dunno about anyone else but I name EVERY unit. Makes life easier for me in the end. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] YouTube ~ Twitch
Wrecking Crew Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Well, for all the years I've been using the scheme, I still have a printed copy on my desk. But looking at any group flag, like 12301, I can see right away that it is for a Red aircraft, group #23, a flag for the entire group, and the group is Dead. Folks, Look at the events in the example mission and note how the group name is in the event title. I usually will arrange like events together. An advantage is that the first event of a certain type can be made, and then cloned for the other groups that need a similar event, while there is just a couple of things to change in the cloned event. It works this way with scripts, too. This organization is soo helpful when troubleshooting, and goes to the OP about 'folders' IMO. DarkFire Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I like the system, and I also agree that flag folders or at least a collapsible hierarchical tree for them would be immensely useful.
