ED Team JimMack Posted May 2, 2006 ED Team Posted May 2, 2006 Would appreciate some advice. The requirement is to record the calls/comms of all players in a multiplayer mission. Replay along with the associated track file. Have any squadrons worked on this or have a solution? Presumably whatever one uses for voice recording (Teamspeak?) has to commence simultaneously with the start of playing back a track. Jim Having problems? GGTharos Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 We've used TS, and you just have to sync it and hit the play button when the track begins. Once useful way to help with this can be a verbal marker such as 'Unpausing' in the voice recording, then you know when to unpause the track (almost invariably the voice recording is longer than the track) Another thing you should keep in mind: Voice recordings are huge. Something around 150mb/hour or so, IIRC, depending on CODEC quality etc. You can turn them into mp3's to reduce the size. Another thing: Recording voice, track, and flying at the same time ... eeeeeh .... not a great idea. GGTharos Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 The processor isn't the real issue, your hard drive is ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
S77th-GOYA Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Use one member of the session to record the sound and another to record the track. The best way to sync it would be to convert it to video. If you just want to compress the audio and sync it to the track use ogg. LOMAC uses ogg, but I've never heard of mp3 being compatible within the game software.
NEODARK Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 The processor isn't the real issue, your hard drive is ;) maybe if you are using old tech yes, but even with a 7200RPM drive I see no issues of saturating your IO.. SCSI and 10K raptors FTW x2 :)
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 http://121st.free.fr/videos/ This French video called Bad Day by F3nT appears to be of a multiplayer mission so I guess it must be possible...... You could ask F3nT on the CheckSix forums what technique they used? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
ED Team JimMack Posted May 4, 2006 Author ED Team Posted May 4, 2006 Many thanks for the all advice, I'll try the Teamspeak route. Jim Having problems?
