Teapot Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 I noticed how faster it was. While it's probably pretty accurate, I'm still surprised how slow the Mustang can seem at times. Are you sure the P51 is that slow? The 109 doing 400 Kph is equivalent to the Pony's 250 (ish) Mph ... it feels slower but it's a kinda placebo effect maybe? But I tend to agree that the 109 seems to accelerate faster ... I can see the experten in the forums having a bit of a smirk here ... as these are facts I probably should know as a wannabe *virtual* WWII combat pilot! "A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft." HeadHunter52 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I find that if I hold the oil cooler "open" for a 12-15 count, I can be much more aggressive in turn fighting. Now, I'm not that good a pilot, so assume that my air flow trhough the rad stinks, due to wild movements. But I don't overheat... I can climb after a fight and not be pegged.... So, I dunno.... seems to me the open door option really is an option. Can't tell you if the modeling is correct, though. msalama Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) As a Korean-era groundpounder I've found that if I open the rads immediately after startup and keep them open for the preflight / mags & prop check, takeoff and climb and only close them after reaching the cruising altitude, I can just leave them be and never overheat. But if I leave them open and then stress the engine on an attack run, I've found that it'll soon seize because it's too cold! So proper heat management does play a big part currently it seems. But then, us mudmovers probably don't stress our crates as much as you fighter pilots do - and I always try to take operational limits into account as well. So I don't know if my way of operating is comparable to yours actually... Edited April 24, 2015 by msalama The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Foul Ole Ron Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 The 109 does accelerate a bit faster. Also Yo-Yo has confirmed that there's a problem with the Mustang's speed (or at least top speed). It's lower than it was at original release and lower than it should be.
