Cobalt027 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Greetings pilots, I'm a pretty new Ka-50 pilot, and I've run into a problem with my radio communications; namely, they stop working after I take off for the first time. I press the comms menu buttons (\), or the button I have bound on my HOTAS for the mic key, and if I am on the ground, (VHF-2, frequency correct and radio powered) I can contact the ATC for clearance. Once I take off however, no matter what I am trying to contact (ATC, wingmen, my mother) the radio menu never comes back up. This problem persists even if I land at the same airfield/FARP. It's almost like the keybinds stop working. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Reaper6 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 R ALT + \ for PTT after takeoff 1 "De oppresso liber" NZXT Phantom Full Tower, Intel Core i7 4960X Processor(6x 3.60GHz/15MB L3Cache) 20% Overclocking, 64GB DDR3-2133 Memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Black-6GB SLI Mode(Dual Cards), Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 Motherboard, ViewSonic PJD5132 SVGA Multi-Region 3D Ready Portable DLP Projector, Track IR 5, Thrustmaster Warthog, Cougar MFDs.
Cobalt027 Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 That fixed it, thank you. Funny thing is it stops working again if I use the "easy communications" option.
Sokol1_br Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Fiddling with this I resolve delete the "\" for "Communication menu". I think this key was intended for "Easy Comm'" (dont try this mode). In this way, I use only "LAlt+\" (SPU-9 PTT) to open the comm' menu, this mean that I am using R-800 to talk with ATC, if SPU-9 knob are in VHF-2 (default) and with Ground Crew if the knob is in "Grd Crew", making the radio use more "realistic", since I am using the radio and not just "talking" ("\"). And if are lazy to switch SPU-9 for "Grd Crew", opening the R-800 menu (LAlt+\) - just to access the comm menu, instead use the "\" - even with SPU-9 knob in VHF2 talk to ground crew through cockpit door open, they hear. ;) Eliminating the "\"option avoid these situations where you end "talking to the wind". :) Edited April 17, 2015 by Sokol1_br mistype
Deathbane Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Will have to give this a shot - even using ralt + / in flight with radio set on the correct ATC frequency, i have many issues getting in touch with them. V.O.D.K.A. Squadron: Northern Wolves - Red ones go faster!
NeilWillis Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 What bugs me about this is that it isn't listed in the control options, so you cannot replace L-Alt \ with a joystick button press. This also seems to be the case for the MiG-15Bis. Is this therefore actually a bug?
Sten_MkIIs Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 The problem is in "easy communication" mode, developers confirmed that they aware of it and it will be resolved.
Sokol1_br Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 For Ka-50 I remove the \ for "Communications (is the Easy Communications) and add to SPU-9 PTT (instead RCtrl+\"), work fine. Curiously, in TF-51D radio comm' work only in inverse way, is need use the "Easy comm'.
