Heya gents, I've been working on a mission for a while and finally gave it a test run.

Some important information to point out is that there is a rather large cloud layer. The base sits at 2,600 and the Top at right around 6,000, and nice handfuls of AAA are scattered around that make every second you spend below the clouds over the target area a punishing experience.

So you have to rely on JTAC to give you target locations, of which one is a bunker you have to destroy with a GBU-38.

After test running it, I had set JTAC's red triangle as my SPI and pickled on it. I watched the GBU-38 fall below the clouds and when it came out it missed, horribly. So I tried to assign JTAC for AAA priority 1, so players could suppress AAA and fight below the clouds on less punishing targets. But there too, using the red triangle data, my mavericks missed horribly.

Just wondering, is there anyway I can get JTAC to give me an accurate location on the red triangle data, and by accurate I mean right on top of the unit he wants me to engage?

I'm not fond of going below the clouds to weed out the shilka's below, I'd much rather be above the clouds hailing GBU's and mavericks at them. :pilotfly:

Kippy,

JTAC will give you a best guess coordinates from their position. But it wont be directly on top of target.

You could visually verify the target using the TPG. Using the different sub modes on the TPG (WHOT and BHOT) you will be able to see through some cloud but not all of it.

If you wanted to fire through the clouds without seeing the target than a CBU would be best to cluster bomb the area the target was spotted.

Also if you setup JTAC to ask for GBU-38 and the A-10's don't have onboard, JTAC will shutdown and say 'No further tasking available'. I always set weapon to Auto to avoid this.

Or you can scroll over the bunker in Mission Editor to get the most accurate coordinates. Then you could set a Msg to be displayed in game with the coordinates for that target. You will have to enter coordinates into your CDU manually.

Hope this helps.

kippy,

you may want to try this script it will set an auto lase on troops and you can use LSS mode to track your targets. it can only be one unit in the group so I just spawn the lase unit when the convoy stops by using mist scripts to find their location and so the unit spawns in the center of the convoy like it got out of the truck.

this script works very well the author did a great job on it.
