PiedDroit Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) What I got left: - two ASUS VS228 21.5" 1920x1080 (80$ each) - one Sony SDM-X53 15" 1024 x 768 (10$) In Montreal, QC Hello everyone, Due to a moving into a smaller place, I must rethink the home cockpit installation to something much more compact  1------------------------------------------------------ I'm giving away a wooden cockpit (1/2" plywood), type A-B with a few modifications from the original plans (only two bolts used, for the front panel, see below): - both elements (seat and console) are 6" higher - seat can be made 2" higher with additional wooden blocks (I made this to be seated higher in relation to the screen, to reduce neck strain). - the console is made sturdier by adding a back panel and a stiffener, I can actually climb on it without any sway. - the console has an internal support plate for the rudder - inclined forward to be more in line with the feet. - the console font panel angle is angled more vertical, to allow mouting a secondary monitor on it and also make the main monitor closer to the user. - the console front panel is attached to the console with 2 bolts to make sure it doesn't pop out because of the secondary monitor (those are the only bolts of the cockpit). - The part that supports the seat (back panel) is cut a bit too short but in practice it allows you to customize the seat angle by adding some wood behind - it's visible on the photos, I used pieces (light blueish gray) from a previous cockpit to get the angle I want. I also give some foam I put on the seat (bottom panel) - I keep the cushions. Overall dimensions: length 187 cm (114 seat +73 console), width 93 cm (107 if counting the keyboard support on the right side). I built two tablets I use to put the mouse (left side) and the keyboard (right side). I also got some paint left (half a gallon) - acrylic. Great seat if you want to feel strapped in the cockpit! 2------------------------------------------------------ From a previous 3 screen installation: Three ASUS VS228 21.5" monitors, 1920x1080 (no speaker). One of them is currently bolted (VESA mount) to the cockpit and has MFDs taped on it (double side on the bezel + felt pads to rest on screen), I can make it cheaper than the other two screens (or even sell it with the MFDs taped on it if you wish). Triple monitor mount - I drilled some holes in it to be able to mount the monitors in portrait mode but it's very sturdy and I don't think it will affect it's strength too much. 3------------------------------------------------------ Sony TFT LCD 15", 1024x768 with integrated speaker (has DVI connector, but no VESA mounting screws). The display has some darker areas but it's not very noticeable (I don't have a photo for it yet). --------------------------------------------------- Price list (those are rough estimates, feel free to suggest something different): If you want to give a few $ for the wood, you're welcome Monitors: 80$ (3) Triple stand: 50$ VESA mount: 10$ (will sell separately only if I scrap the cockpit eventually) MFDs: bundled with a monitor (100$ monitor + MFDs). Sony 15" monitor: 10$, great for secondary monitor if there is not much space :D The color is best render on the photo showing the seat view or the one showing the height enhancers. I'm located in Montreal, QC Cheers, P. Edited May 5, 2015 by PiedDroit
neoshi Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Hey pieddroit, can you show me pics of the holes drilled into the triple mount and are these prices shipped to CONUS too?
PiedDroit Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Hey pieddroit, can you show me pics of the holes drilled into the triple mount and are these prices shipped to CONUS too? I put a picture (main post) showing the actual mount (picture on the manual) next to the parts I drilled (circled on one part). The modification simply increases the range of the mount. The package is 6.4 kg, shipping cost should be in the range 35 to 50$CAD depending on the destination in the U.S. Edited May 2, 2015 by PiedDroit shipping cost range
neoshi Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Thanks. Hmm might be too close to US retail prices for me. Thanks though!
PiedDroit Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) Thanks. Hmm might be too close to US retail prices for me. Thanks though! No problem I understand; due to the weight, it's interesting mostly for people not too far from Montreal, who can come and pick up the stuff, especially for the cockpit panels :music_whistling:. combatace Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Can you let me know what will it cost to send both VS228 to India? To support my models please donate to paypal ID: hp.2084@gmail.com https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Artists/hero2084?referral=hero2084
PiedDroit Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 I'm afraid that's quite expensive... I checked on Canada Post website, the cheapest I could find was around 140 CAD. I also don't know if the monitor will work on 220v. Buying locally should be safer and cheaper I think.
combatace Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 140CAD is the cost of 1 monitor here, that is why I asked you the shipping costs first. You should have sold them when I was in Edmonton, I could have carried them.. Lol..
