Of course!! Also the Galland ashtray would be great for a place where leaving the cigar while in combat... And why not Spit with beer barrels as load option. Of course the day we have Skyriders I wouldn't buy it if we don't have the WC "bombload" option... even I'm thinking to sell my F-86 copy because it lacks the Yeager chewing gum stuck to windscreen aiming option...

I actually can't tell if complete sarcasm or not. Because the mirrors and the Skyraider's toilet bomb are very much significant things about the planes. Spit IX's beer barrels would also be very neat to have, good missions could be done with them.

Just kidding mate :smilewink: . But in my opinion ANY minor and personal change in an aircraft should be used as a base to model anything. If we want every minor field mod ever made modelling any aircraft would be an endless effort. A field moded aircraft is a unique piece, in a simulator we have to have the standard out of factory models.

I don't think there is a common model of mirror, but not only one Bf 109 used it.
A bunch out of 33000 built still is a drop in the ocean :smilewink:.

But OK, when we have an available Emil we can discuss it .

Most 109's didn't have it. In fact, that's the first time I've seen a picture of a 109 with a mirror.

True. And if some of you are that interested, I think it should be made as a mod. I really don't see ED spending their time on something like this.

The mirror was only used on early series 109s like the Emil. According to Günther Rall the mirror vibrated too much and you couldn't see that much with it.

My personal opinion is : if i would be an ace back in ww2 of course I could put a mirror on my 109k.

As my homonym Otto says, the rearview mirror was only used in early versions of the Bf-109.

these mirrors were a field modifications (required by pilots), the mirrors are not a factory equipment, and they suffered heavy vibrations and were of little use to see enemy planes approaching from the back at a distance.

The Rotte flight tactics, were more effective in mutual protection than any rearview mirror.

Personally, I think that this rearview mirror installation is not very aerodynamic and a little shoddily. ...No wonder it suffering vibrations :D
