BlackLion213 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Hello, I've started delving into the mission editor and trying to create scenarios. It's a really powerful system, but takes time to figure things out. One thing that I'm trying to figure out: can you get "enemy" aircraft to maneuver aggressively/engage in ACM without firing? I'm thinking about the kind of scenarios that the USN saw off Libya, Iran, and Lebanon. The enemy fighters approach and start maneuvering into a firing position, but never actually fire - then rapidly bug out once our fighters drop into their 6'oclock. I could leave the enemies under-armed, but it would be nice to have the possibility of shots if the scenario requires it. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help, Nick
Sabre-TLA Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 You could use the Weapons Hold option under Advanced Waypoint Options and then conditionally control when the AI returns fire. See page 178 in the DCS User Manual. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
BlackLion213 Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 Excellent! Thank you, I'll try that out. -Nick
BlackLion213 Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) OK, figured it out. If you just setting ROE to weapons hold it leads to zero action, enemy just flies by even with shots fired. Set it to return fire and they just fire, seems that they don't trust me... However, if you set the enemy to intercept and use advanced waypoint options for "attack unit" Then manually set the weapons to cannon and one unit. Set attack to the 6'oclock. The enemy will maneuver actively, but not fire any shots that I can see. Seems to work well. No I just need to set-up the right criteria to knock things off. Thanks again, Nick Edited May 20, 2015 by BlackLion213
