Tello Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hi everyone! First let me describe my frustration. I have search the forum and the big Internet with out results(Maybe that's my real problem) I have downloaded a profile for A-10C to make it easier/faster to get in the air and deliver some weapons hopefully on the enemy. -> Here I had a Thrustmaster1600M before I got this X52-Pro. I deleted my old settings via the C:\Users\Idiotdanewithnewhardware\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick - Which is now empty and no new files have been created even after I have played around in a testrange map to, well test my settings. (Ramp start, Air start - all the same) The throttle have a MFD as you are aware and I can see what function is being ordered to the module/plane on the MFD. ex. Coolie hat left, flaps etc. The case is that nothing seems to response on that. However all the default keyboard settings work as they should, And it looks like all of the joystick-bindings are set up in the in-game input-settings. -> The tile next to Keyboard read: Saitekx52Pro and many functions are programmed to corresponding function. So basically i have only working THR and Stick. None of the pushdown, flips, sliders and rotarys are doing anything as I would expect even though the MFD is showing what command I execute. I really hope that I am the problem here and luckily I can still fly the Eagle and the Sukhois which I have binded manually - Only ingame and not via the Saitek Profile manager. I am pretty sure you guys are going to say to me that it is the Saitek software which is not working and if that is true well great. Then I can move on and set everything up manually with out looking back in the Saitek pro flight control system software anymore. Ofcourse I am also very confused on how to manually get the rotarys and sliders to work with manually programming the input settings ingame. I want to know if I am the error40(Error is placed 40cm away from the monitor) or if I perhaps have misunderstood somethings. Is the profile I downloaded simply not working anymore due to the many patches released since the profile(s) was created or ??!?!? :helpsmilie: I might add that this of course is my first experience with HOTAS and I have only been flying sims since September 2014. I bought the TM1600M back then just to see if this kind of game was something for me. Oh sweet lordy lord, ever since I found DCS I have not been playing anything else and can't see any reason to stop. Saitek "About": Current Software/Driver versions are: 7.0.39.0 DonnaTello [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mano Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hi first question is have you correctly installed hotas drivers and sst software? In the Windows input devices pane, can you See all the hotas buttons (>30) and they all are working correctly? If one of these answers are no, then reinstall drivers. If not, Pm me and maybe we can find a solution via teamspeak or Skype and teamviewer. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mano Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 One other thing: x52 pro doesnt work on usb 3.0 ports. You have to down grande them to 2.0 first. I have 9 years experience with x52 pro and made a lot of profiles with the sst. I know it has big little issues from time to time but you Just need to understand how to tame the beast and then it'll work like a charm 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tello Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 Thank you - Let me say why: No I have not downloaded the SST, And yes how spooky it is. I have the HOTAS connected to my USB 3.0 port. (How did you know.) I will do as I understand what you ask in this order: 1 - Remove hardware from USB 3.0 2 - Uninstall drivers/Saitek software Reboot 3 - Reconnect hardware to USB 2.0 4 - Install Driver and SST software. 5 - Open Teamspeak and select: Only keyboard and mouse (I read somewhere this is best) 5 - PM you with contact info. Thank you many times. Could we meet on TS or something anyway so you can show me other erhm. First time user errors =) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mano Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I have the HOTAS connected to my USB 3.0 port. (How did you know.) LOL engineer sixth sense! :megalol: 1 - Remove hardware from USB 3.0 2 - Uninstall drivers/Saitek software Reboot 3 - Reconnect hardware to USB 2.0 actually it's not sufficient to remove the hardware from the USB3.0. you have to uninstall the drivers for the usb3.0 usage, so in fact you cannot have usb3 ports on your pc if you want to play with saitek x52 pro...that's because of horrible saitek driver programming...and support... to remove the USB 3.0 port controller you have to uninstall the related program from the control panel -> uninstall software (or similar description...I've italian win7 so I don't know exact english terms), and look for USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controlle. Uninstall that, disconnect anything and reboot. Then download and install Drivers (first) and SST software (second) strictly following the install instructions. download files from here: http://saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php choosing: Product Range: PRO FLIGHT Product: X52 PRO and operating system... If everything has been correctly installed, in your device panel you should see a screen like the following: here you can download some of my profiles, if you don't want to mess with the SST software for instance: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/iwqll1nzc4ikfh3/AAAdpeW7dg8j4AVo8gN1Lja3a?dl=0 download and copy them to this folder (change it accordingly): C:\Users\Public\Documents\SmartTechnology Profiles finally, if still in trouble pm me. GurbY Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 You give a big deal of help there Mano, but I have to disagree with you about the 3.0 drivers. I've had the X52 Pro myself and it functioned 100% on a USB2.0 port without the removal of the 3.0 drivers. I also connected it to the 3.0 ports first, but what I did was - remove hardware - remove all Saitek drivers - reboot - install Saitek drivers - connect to USB2.0 port (Tello, mind the difference with your action; first install drivers, THAN connect!!) All ok. Quickest solution is install SST and load an active profile. Try one of Mano's, there ok!

Tello Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 I have uninstalled USB 3.0 software, Disabled USB 3.0 Host controller in my BIOS. Loaded several profiles(something.pr0) and tested with them, Created my own profiles and tested with them, Cleaned my registry with CCleaner, deleted my entire "Input" folder inside my DCS directory, All above have been done after i followed the steps provided by Mano. I still see that DCS have my Old/default keymappings saved inside the game. None of the solutions are working out for me. I simply can't get any of the programmed profiles to work. I tried a simple profile where I only binded NoseWheel steering and Autopilot but still nothing. If I select "insert" I see the nosewheel steering light activate. If I push the button assigned on the joystick to enable/disable the Nosewheel steering there is no reaction. I understand it like this: The Saitek/Madcat profiles are working seperate from DCS, That mean I can bind any keys I want in the Saitek profiler and it will send that command to the ingame "keyboard" - But how ever as described it does not work. I am loosing my patience with this. Do I need to reinstall my entire game and maybe windows to make a simple piece of hardware work ? I think not. There has to be something I missed or misunderstood. I will go through the checklist for the 20th time and see if this fix it. Last solution is to reinstall game. All my keys on joystick are working and reactive when I test them. The MFD is showing what ever key is being pushed. I will take a break now before I destroy anything hehe =) Oh I miss flying in my sim bobble world. WHY YOU HEF TO DO THIS SAITEK sry for frustrating comments. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tello Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 During installation you are advised to connect hardware before the installation will continue ? Due to the very fragile nature of this hardware - Do I need to ignore that ? The "continue" option will not highlight unless I connect the controller. Thank you guys for helping me out here. Imagine how lost I would be with out you ;) Good Weekend BTW - connect to USB2.0 port (Tello, mind the difference with your action; first install drivers, THAN connect!!) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GurbY Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) Tello, did you install SST and have the profile loaded? Do you see a square around the taskbar icon? And yes, connect when the program asks to. Edited May 30, 2015 by GurbY
Tello Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 Yes when I have selected a profile the icon turns green and the selected profile is caved by a circle. I have installed SST(After uninstall first time I made sure to DEL all files in %TEMP% as well as C:\windows\temp\) so I expect it to be a clean install. Could it be that my keyboard have a "danish layout" ? That was my reason to why I tried creating my own profiles. I am currently so confused I am not sure what else to try. Other than go to sleep and try again tomorrow. Thank you for helping out. Tello, did you install SST and have the profile loaded? Do you see a square around the taskbar icon? And yes, connect when the program asks to. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GurbY Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 If you run the control panel from Saitek, all input is recognized? And if you run SST, does it show which button is pressed including the correct function? Try to assign "G" to, lets say, the big white button on the throttle and name it gear or something. When you press that button, does the display on the throttle say "gear"? If yes, it should work in DCS... 1
Tello Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 yep it certainly do. The MFD and the control panel both show that the keys are being registered. which mode (1,2,3) I am in as well. By luck... I saw that I never deleted my installation files for DCS and have now reinstalled the game as well. reactivated everything and so on. Still no luck with the Joystick. I have tested Mano's pr0files as well as the one I original tried. I have tried to select and deselect the Clutch mode in Clutch setting. The joystick is responsive. If I map a button in the game control settings it is also working as it should. I guess the only solution left for me now is to drop the idea of using all the sliders and rotarys and just set it up manually in the ingame control settings. it is just kind of sad to have buttons with out any function. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mano Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Mmmh if sliders are ok in the control panel they should be ok in the game as well. The clutch button should always be deactivated. Try to cancel all ingame button assignments but the axis. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mano Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Try running the sst Joy as administrator [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Tello Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Goodmornings and on it again. I will try as you say Mano. Thank you for your patience. EDIT: It is still not working with either suggestions. Or any of the old or new profiles. Thank you guys for your great help. I do not think this hardware/software deserve to have more energy spend on it. I will go bind manually. :D Have a nice day But hey good things: I made a fresh install of my game. (yae :S) Edited May 31, 2015 by Tello Tried the suggestions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GurbY Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Bull. It has to work, somehow we all here must be able to figure it out. Did you clear all input in the correct categorie in DCS? Question: when you assign G to some button and name it GurbY (...), do you see that text in the display..?? Edited May 31, 2015 by GurbY
Tello Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Heh - Yes as stated above. The problem must be me understanding the programming of the mapping. This morning after resinstalling the software and driver again. Tried to set up a quick profile and while everything seems fine - It loads, The MFD highlight what command is being executed I did not get any reaction ingame. Even the basic mappings like you suggest, Gear up/down, Flaps, Nosewheel stearing or combo mappings like Left Shift + G etc. do not have any effect what so ever. I have now mapped the keys inside the game options. It is a nice stick and good to finally have some kind of HOTAS. But I have accepted that no matter what I try and what you guys suggest to me. It just won't work. I have not tried with any other game though. (I dont play anything else so it does not matter) But that is the last thing I could imagine to test out. So I will just have to learn to live with out the two rotarys, the slider and the Mode setting. It's okay. You get what you pay for hehe ;) Thank you guys for your great help. We can conclude that either: I am a noob and are not understanding what you are trying to tell me. Or the software are not working with my current system: Asus z68-v SandyBridge 2500K Nvidia 780 Soundblaster Recon3d windows home edition 64bit. While I am no rocket engineer I don't think I am that stupid. I did learn to master the A10C after all ^^ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mano Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Tello don't surrender! Maybe not today but tris night or tomorrow morning i can be available to check it via teamviewer. I believe the problem is some trivial mistake that we don't catch via forum. Don't give up! You paid for a hotas that works pretty well... So we must get it work. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pikey Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 You tried longer than me. I have found it simpler to bind in game and turn off latched mode. I still have the SST software running, just a blank profile. I'm going to say that using DCS is easier to configure mappings than the SST software, but you loose the silly ministick. Plus now I can use the pinky switch as a modifier in DCS and double the numbers of keys available. It's really the only major issue with this stick, the software is poor. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
