BlackLion213 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Hello, I was reading the fine print on the Strait of Hormuz (SoH) theater and I noticed: "390 x 390 km highly detailed map area that centers on the Strait of Hormuz." Does this mean that the High/Medium detail portion of the SoH map will be 390x390 km (like the NTTR High/Medium detail area is around 360x360 km, I think), but there will be low detail area around it of an undisclosed size? Or is 390x390 km size the total map, but all High/Medium detail? Or is this undecided? Thank you for the info if available. I'm really excited about this map, lots of great combat opportunities across several different eras. -Nick
ED Team NineLine Posted June 5, 2015 ED Team Posted June 5, 2015 It will most likely be like NTTR, with the 390 being high/medium and then a bunch of extra space around it that is lower quality. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Echo38 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 What sort of lower-detail area? Like what you see if you try to fly to Turkey on the current Georgia map?

ED Team NineLine Posted June 5, 2015 ED Team Posted June 5, 2015 What sort of lower-detail area? Like what you see if you try to fly to Turkey on the current Georgia map? I am sure it will be similar to what was shown for the NTTR map, see the first post in the DCS World 2 thread... BUT I dont know, I havent see the outer areas of that map yet, I am only guessing. Dagger71 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) I'm guessing from the map description, you could bring it up in google earth, draw a 390 km line across (west to east) just south of Dubai (with Dubai slightly west of the middle). Then 390 KMs north on both sides. It will give us a rather large area with tons of potential hot spots. Off shore oil platforms, lots of naval, desert cities, islands and mountains in the north, in one of the most dangerous, volatile bodies of water on the planet. I can't wait to start taking out nuclear reactors, gunboats and attacking Iranian platforms with the A10C! This map reminds me so much of my early gaming days playing F19 Stealth Fighter and F15 Strike Eagle II. The Persian Gulf and Libya were my favs. Edited June 5, 2015 by Dagger71
xoxen Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) This map reminds me so much of my early gaming days playing F19 Stealth Fighter and F15 Strike Eagle II. The Persian Gulf and Libya were my favs. Same for me. Funny, this morning I told my 9 year old son about the time I ordered F-19 for the C-64. I ordered it with express delivery and the postman already came before I had to go to school that day. Hard day in school as you can imagine ;) I expect it was one of the longest ones I ever had......
