I'am surprised that the wind direction is not taken into account by tower when you request takeoff.

I just made a test in Batumi with a strong wind coming from 305, and the tower give tell me to takeoff on runway 31.

It may be interesting to match reality to take this important parameter into account.

Some airbases don't switch the runway, the rest of them do. As far as I know there are two main reasons for this.

1. Departure/arrival from a given direction is dangerous.

2. The airbase isn't designed for it.

For a few bases on the coast the first reason is the cause. Sochi, Batumi, Novorosick, and Ghelenzick all have runways roughly perpendicular to the coastline with some sizable hills/mountains in the opposite direction from the Black Sea. For these bases the glide slope is probably in the hills at somepoint.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Rtiway in use?

A Wind coming from 305?what is so strange with tower point out the runway 31?

Runway 31 means that you have to take off heading to 310.

Thus you will be front of Wind.

telling you to take off from runway 31 is exactly what they would tell you in real life...

My mistake, in the test the wing was coming from 125 thus having the wind in my back at takeoff.

In conclusion, mission makers have to take into account the restrictive environnement conditions of the base they will use for takeoff and set the wind conditions according to this.

I just made another test at Krymsk, and according to the wind direction the tower give you the right runway. That's an interesting feature i didn't know.

So this works for airports with no restrictions.
