Pineapple Pete Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I am learning to fly the P-51 slowly as time allows. So, I felt good enough to try the Alamo mission. Why wont my wingman engage ground targets after I ask him to? His response is always "negative." I have tried normal and easy comms but all he does is fly circles around me. BTW I have never seen the "green smoke" Dog is popping. I purposely took off in the wrong direction and "Dog" said that they have me in sight. Maybe they were looking at the wingman who wont follow orders? I am really enjoying DCS but for a casual gamer the learning curve is steep. Many thanks. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
feefifofum Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) AI ground attack Mustangs are a little out of my depth, but try making a pass over your targets first. When you hear your wingman call contact/tally, he has spotted targets and can be ordered to engage (in other planes, at least.) Also be sure he's properly equipped to execute an attack; I've definitely written a few missions where I forgot to arm an AI plane. I suspect your takeoff comms issue is likely a result of the trigger being configured as ALTITUDE HIGHER THAN for the player aircraft. If that is the case, you'll receive the message as soon as your wheels lift off, regardless of the direction. If the mission builder has ordered a particular direction of travel, it's always a good idea to listen as things can break. Not sure about your smoke problem, but it's probably related to the position of your aircraft. Unless you are supposed to trigger the smoke by using the F10 radio menu, you probably need to be at a certain place to set it off. If you have a flight plan on your kneeboard, try to follow it as closely as possible to insure things will behave. These are some general suggestions, keep in mind I haven't actually flown this mission. :P Edited July 1, 2015 by feefifofum THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
