Optimal range against a maneuvering target is around 50-150m and no more than 300m against a non-maneuvering target. Anything beyond those ranges against an alert target is just spray and pray. And yes, I am fully aware of just how close that is when traveling at mach .9. It's also helpful to aim in front of them instead of on them. Let them fly into your bullet stream rather than try to chase them around with it.

Game: DCS World Developer: Eagle Belsimtek Eagle Dynamics Server: ACG Cold War Flight: F-5 Tiger II x3 Lead: WinchesterDelta1 Wingman 1: Mustang Wingman 2: Razor Kills: Mustang x1 WinchesterDelta1 x2 Casualties: Razor x1 Friendly Mission: Frontline Fighter Sweep. Result: Mission complete with acceptable losses. Most of the flight returned to base safely. The enemy could not advance the frontline any further. Air superiority temporarily established. This big boy with his belly full of Vodka was so drunk it ended up behind NATO lines. So as the gentle man I am escort it back. To only get jumped by his totally wasted tug friends. But for me it felt like a achievement to even have survived this (mirage pilots where excellent). A very hectic fight where I kill a unsuspected SU-27 Flanker and survive a big furball thanks to my Mirage buddy's Coxy_99 and =36=Falcon. Server: 104th Phoenix East vs West Take off: Kobuleti Landing: Senaki Kill by me: x1 SU-27 Flanker Pilot: =RAF=Muh Kill by Coxy_99 x2, 1 confirmed SU-27 Flanker Pilot: Korrg Kill by =36=Falcon x2, 1 confirmed SU-27 Flanker Pilot: V.
