ATI R9 390

So I just recently upgraded to this card and WOW. I have everything turned on high and this card doesn't seem to break a sweat. I have been flying around for about 2 days with it and so far I cannot believe how awesome this card is.

 

The only weird thing is the MSI Afterburner software does not show the GPU in full use its usually around 60-80% but rarely at 100% yet my FPS never drops below 57.

 

If you are on the fence about a new card this thing is a beast. I upgraded from a nVidia 770 2GB card and am just blown away at how much better things look.

May I ask what your previous GPU was?

I did have a nVidia 770GTX 2GB, I am running at 1920x1080

I am between R9 390 and GTX 970, leaning towards the former. I see that in almost all benchmarks 390 beats 970 and it also has the colossal 8 GB VRAM. These 2 cards cost about the same now.

 

It would be interesting to hear someone testing it at 4K. Anyone has something to comment on this comparison specifically for DCS? Any pros and cons?

 

EDIT : may i ask what aircraft you are flying? If you fly WW2 did you notice any stutters with tracers or explosions?

With DCS 1.5 so close i imagine most people are holding off from upgrading till then. So far the 390 seems best value so far (esp in xfire). Ill be posting benchmarks at 4k if and when i upgrade.

I didn't notice much in the P-51, that is the only WWII fighter I bought. The others just are not my cup of tea. Mainly use the P-51 for sight seeing and acrobatics. I'm more of a modern day fighter guy :). This card keeps blowing me away. I am also running GTAV with everything maxed. I have had some stuttering there but nothing too bad.
