lockon2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Hi all, How do I activate the F-15C? I know its pretty basic but this is my first time with the Lock on series. When FC3 comes up, there is a list of planes on the bottom of the screen but every time I click on one, it says I have to buy them. I don't see any of the "free" planes on the bottom of this screen. How do I get them to show up on the bottom of the screen? Or do I need that? I went to the module manager. There is a list of planes here. By some of them it says: "Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase." I clicked on "Buy" for the F-15C but I don't think I bought anything. The game redirected me to a website and I clicked on "Beta" and I downloaded the F-15C. Now, it shows up in "Installed" on the Modules Manager. It also says, in the same row: "Belsimtek" and there is a space for a serial number but I don't know what to do about that. Also, are there missions for the F-15C? I didn't see any on the "Mission" Tab. A couple of training ones for a beginner would be nice, if they exist. Sorry for such basic questions. I know there's a basic system to all this, but I think when I get the F-15C down (the first plane) I will know how to do this part for all the rest of the planes.
Flogger23m Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 The only free planes are the Su-25T and TF-51D. Did you actually purchase FC3? If so, open the mission editor, place on of the FC3 aircraft as "player" and launch. The game will ask you for your CD key. Enter it. There are some missions by default but I never played them. With DCS you essentially make your own missions or download missions made by others.
JINX_1391 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I'm new to DCS as well. So I'll clue you in on my lessons learned so far (by that I mean from what I've seen, and by no means am I an expert). 1) There is no interactive F15C training module/mission/campaign provided by DCS. However, there is an SU-25 interactive tutorial if you're looking to learn the basics of flight. 2) There is a user generated F15C training campaign you can DL for under $10. It is done really nice and teaches/rates you on the basics. 3) Everything I've ever needed to fly the F15C (keyboard buttons, questions, HOTAS setup, or issues) I've found on this forum. 4) Everything else, I learned from watching youtube videos. Seriously, my 10 month old son will not fall asleep unless Bunyap or Ralfidude is on the TV in my bedroom. Last, there are two missions for the F15C. Both way down on the list. One is easier than the other, called Clean Sweep. The other is hard, called No Fly Zone. By easy I mean I'm only just able to defeat the first two bandits after take off...the rest is a crap shoot. lockon2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Hi all, "The only free planes are the Su-25T and TF-51D." That doesn't make sense. On the module manager there is a list of many more "free planes." It says so on "Modules" where by certain planes, to the right of the plane's description it says "Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase." I attached a screenshot of what it says so you can see what I am referencing. That is in attached image 1874 and 1873. 1873 is the general view of the module and 1874 has the close up view of what I mentioned here. "Did you actually purchase FC3?" Yes. The bank shows I did and I have a serial number for the entire game. On the "Installed" section of "Modules", where there is a row for Flaming Cliffs 3, there is a slot that says "Serial Number." I attached a general picture of this in Image 1875. When I click on "Serial Number", (Image 1876) my serial number appears. However, for the row "F-15C" you can see the "Belsimtek" I was talking about (also Image 1876). That row, too, wants a serial number, but when I click on the serial number for F-15C, none appears. It seems that if the F-15C came with the game, it should have the same serial number as the Flaming Cliffs 3 Serial Number. If the serial number for F-15C is different than for the entire game, and the F-15C is free, where do I get this serial number? One question I have is that, if the F-15C really is on my flaming cliffs 3, where should it appear and what should I see in what menu? I’m having trouble knowing if I have done things correctly as far as installing this plane and all that goes with it. I was going to ask if the F-15C has as many missions as the Su-27, but JINX 1391 answered this. What is the website to download the training missions? I don’t mind paying a few dollars for them. As for JINX 1391, 3 and 4, yes, I see as much. I am already questions as much as I can already. Thanks for the tips about the two missions on F-15C. I will try the easy one when I am sure I have installed the F-15C correctly. I did found a whole bunch of missions for the SU-27 and I have been using those for now, just to get a feel for one of the planes.
pr1malr8ge Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Ok, just to clear this up.. The f15c is included with the FC3 module. Or if you do not wish to purchase fc3 you can get the f15c as a stand alone module. When activating FC3 or just the f15 what you need to do is launch dcsworld and then either select a campaign or instant mission for an FC3 aircraft or the f15c for just the f15c module. Once you hit launch it should bring up the promp to type in your serial number[KEY] For the WIN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.
Flogger23m Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 To find any of the aircraft/modules you purchased simply place them in the editor and set them flyable. Or launch a mission which has them. None of the FC3 aircraft are "free" aside from the Su-25T. If you did purchase FC3 then do as I said, place one of the FC3 planes in a mission, set as flyable and launch it. A prompt will come up asking for your CD key. Enter your CD key and the game will launch. If that is not working ensure you actually downloaded/installed the FC3 module from the ED website (or Steam). If on the ED site head over to the download/module section.

So skip Starbucks for one day cause this is really well done for the cost. Some are challenging, I think I've flew this module for almost four months before completing. But I find a passion for perfection, and the night ILS Landing is very very challenging. There is a tremendous amount of content there as well. It didn’t ask for a serial number, though, it just went right to it. “place one of the FC3 planes in a mission, set as flyable and launch it. A prompt will come up asking for your CD key. Enter your CD key and the game will launch.” I did this also for the A-10. Looks likes its working. I could place various planes in the mission that come with FC 3 and then launch the mission. It didn’t ask for a CD key here, but it works, started right up. “Links for $5”. I went ahead and bought them. I’ll play them over several weeks and see how it goes. It looks like what I need to help me get started. Great! Looks like I’m good for now on this. Thanks for everyone for the help!
