Can't use HomeFries profile!

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone is using HomeFries profiles in DCS with Windows 8.1? I read his instructions provided with the for installation and it references going to the Cougar control panel. I have the original disc that came with the Cougar and I know Foxy has the CCP but it won't install to Windows 8.1. I couldn't find a CCP in TARGET so I'm a little lost as to where to go from here??

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm anxious to try his profiles out with my Cougar!! :joystick:

Have you tried installing under Vista SP2 compatibility mode?? I will contact Homefries and point him to this thread..

 

It is an excellent prfile it comes with JPG's to print out with the commands and plus you have the ability to use the MFD's from Thrustmaster..

I d/led the vista drivers, but not in any particular compatibility mode. I now have the CCP, but it doesn't see the stick even though windows recognizes it. Is it possible that this is happening because I didn't use compatibility mode to run the .exe??

Well I know with Windows 7 you need to run the EXE in Compatibility mode under Vista SP2..

Man, you just never know what you're going to run in to with computers and sims. It seems that the old firmware/software of the Cougar doesn't play well with USB 3.0. After beating my head against the wall trying to figure out why the CCp wouldn't recognize my Cougar, I moved it to a USB 2.0 slot and bingo, it saw it. Now if I can just figure out why I don't have "RX" axis that functions even though "RY" does I'll be golden. The CCP shows in working in calibration mode, but windows shows it as "S2" which is a slider for a rotary. SMH:no_sad:

RX Which Axis is that again?? IS that the little mouse pointer button on the Throttle??

Yes, the microstick on the throttle. It should be the left and right of the microstick, the up and down (RY) work fine. Wanted to use it to slew the TD in the F-15C.

OK You said it was working in the CCP?? IF so you are sure you have the FC3 PRofile loaded?? IF so are you in Comm state by chance??

 

Also have you configured the TMC File??

I'm just trying to make it work in the controls menu outside of any profile. I did edit my tmc file but have never loaded a profile into DCS and I'm having problems.

OK so you loaded the Profile via target correct?? If so then how are you testing the Cursor in CCP?? IF so this will not work you will need to test it with Targets analyzer..

No, I haven't loaded any profile into DCS yet. I'm not sure I could at the moment if I wanted to as I've never done it nor have I researched it to know. I go to the CCP and the microstick works in manual calibration mode. When I try to map in in the F-15 section of the controls the RX axis does not work. Also, if I go into TARGET and try to analyze it I don't see it working there either. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong.

 

I should just try and load up the profile if I can figure out how and see what happens.:cry:

OK you have the Zip file from the DL link should sau Target DCS with a version number??

 

If so unzip that and inside you will see a folder called "for saved Games" in there is the lua file you put in your Saved Games folder.. mine is under c:Local disk/Users/Nephilim/SAved Games/DCS/Target Lua

 

You may need to create the TargetLUa folder. then drop the LUA you will be using in there..

 

Once you have doe that you need to put the other files in a folder on your PC. I put mine on E:Local Disk/TM/Thrustmaster,, Inside the Thrustmaster folder is the Common,DCS,JPG folder with the other files especially the DCS World.TMC file..

 

You can pout these files ANYWHERE you want but name each folder so you can create a shortcut for the Target GUI..

 

 

Once you have done that get a copy of the Target GUI.EXE and create a shortcut and put it on desktop.. Right click the Shortcut and in the TARGET line put in the following:

 

 

-r "e:\TM\Thrustmaster\DCS World.tmc" that is just pointing to the TMX file you put somewhere if you did it like me just rename the drive you put it in.. but try and nest it like I did on a drive somewhere..

If you don't want to sign up for SImHQ I can host my private server if you would want a talkthrough sometime..

 

IT is easier then it looks and the profile is great it just needs a little setting up..

Hey, Nephilim, thank you so much for the help!! I've been a member of SimHQ since 2000, so no problem there. I see you in their TS now and then. I play Arma 3 with the SimHQ bunch and fly IL-2 and DCS with some friends there. I'm available at your convenience any time, it would be great to get these profiles up and running.
