Jacks Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I have a problem that means that my ABRIS screen is difficult to read. The gridlines are jagged and flash and the text is difficult to read. Please see attached cockpit screenshots. I play the game on 1080p on a 27" monitor and have textures and scenes set to high. I have cockpit resolutions set to 512 although there is no improvement with 1024 every frame. I have also tried increasing the antitropic filtering in Nvidia CP but no luck. I do not have the same issue in the A-10C. Is this a known issue? Are there any mods or fixes? Controllers: TrackIR 5, Thrustmaster HOTAS X, Saitek Throttle Quadrant (with DIY removable collective mod), Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Just trying to keep my number of takeoffs and landings equal!
Lib Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) can you list your graphic options in DCS ? because you should have a great improvement with "1024 every frame". One thing more, since DCS was realease i noticed there is no improvement to set anything in the Nvidia CP, just let it as "default" and set your option in DCS. Edited September 8, 2015 by Lib
Jacks Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I have most settings in Nividia CP set the application controlled and have limited found the setup that maximises FPS on my system. For the game options I have everything at high except water and shadows which are at medium and civ traffic is off. I have HDR, tree shadows, TSAA and mirrors off. Visibility is set to maximum, tree to 6.7km and clutter to 230m. Cockpit resolution is set to 512 which should be sufficient for 1080p? The screen resolution is 1920x1080 at a ratio of 16:9. At the moment I don't use the ABRIS due to the quality and the difference between it and the MFDs in the A-10C is stark. I will try and take screen shots of the option page tonight. Lib Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 If you try to set "1024 every frame" and you engage the shkval to design a target, you will see the target in a much higher definition.
Jacks Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I am happy with the resolute of the Shkval at 512 which is the resolution I use in the SU-25T. I use this resolution to maximise FPS. Lib Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) I have a problem that means that my ABRIS screen is difficult to read. The gridlines are jagged and flash and the text is difficult to read. I think we don't understand each other, sorry this maybe because english is not my language. What i mean, reading your problem, is that ABRIS and SKVAL resolution and "readability" is principaly set by the option "cockpit resolution". Now you want to use 512, ok, but your problem is not an issue... just a bad setting, you have to find compromises with your FPS and your visibility. :smilewink: With your system specs you shouldn't have more than 1 or 2 fps lost. Jacks Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I would happily run cockpit resolution at 1024 every frame to improve the ABRIS but I have tried that option and it did not resolve the poor picture and jagged and flicking gridlines. Jumbik Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Have you tried higher anti aliasing settings? If yes try DSR resolution via nvidia panel ... double your current resolution and check the results. Do, or do not, there is no try. -------------------------------------------------------- Sapphire Nitro+ Rx Vega 64, i7 4790K ... etc. etc.
Jacks Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I have tried DSR and found it too much of a hit on FPS without too much improvement in anti-aliasing. What AA are others using and what ABRIS quality do you get? Jacks Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Here is a picture of my in game options and also I took a picture of the cockpit view with cockpit resolution set to 1024 every frame and MSAA set to x16Q, the highest settings. Any ideas? Sense Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 You might not like me for saying it but just zooming in to the abris when using it will solve your problem. I cant remember different then doing so.
PiedDroit Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) All pictures you posted are zoomed out, so the number of pixels available to display the ABRIS is rather small. As said, you need to zoom in first. After that you can maybe tweak the resolution of MFDs. P.S.: IIRC, "native" resolution for ABRIS is 480x640 Edited September 8, 2015 by PiedDroit
KeyGirl Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Here is my config, so i have no problems for 50-60 fps. My specs: AMD Phenom x6 T1100 GTX 760 2 VRAM MSI 970A-G46 Motherb. 2x 8 GB Corsair DDR3-1600 You see......not a better system like yours :) Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X @ 4.7 MHz Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX Module: 64 GB Corsair Venegance DDR5 @ 3000 Video: RTX 4090 PALIT GameRock OC 24 GB Monitor: SAMSUNG U28E590 @ 4K Other: HP Reverb G2 and WD Black SN850X The answers is ... 42!
BaD CrC Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I am a bit confused reading this post. The solution is so obvious that I fear I might have misunderstood the problem. But.... what about using the zoom in /zoom out? Of course the ABRIS is unreadable at this zoom level, no matter how big is your screen. It's the same for everybody. Your options: 1- Zoom in/out when you need to use ABRIS. Dangerous when flying but you can assign a key on your joystick/hotas 2- Use a trackIR. You can lean forward to your screen and have a zoom in of your panel. Much safer option when flying but you need to invest in a track IR. 3- Export your ABRIS on a secondary screen. This is by far the best option. You can get your ABRIS exported and displayed on another monitor as big as you want (along with the Shkval). I guess this is what most BlackShark pilots are doing. There are tons of posts to explain how to do this (search for multi screens) and ready to use config files already in DCS. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
