MMalkavian Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Hello, fellow simmers! Not sure If I'm doing something wrong but in the manual, about parking procedure, says something like: "Follow the start up checklist in reverse order" I comply. But for some reason that won't cause the engine to shut down. I don't get it. Without fuel pumps or electricity the engine should be totally starved, but that's not the case apparently Am I missing something? Or is the MiG21 engine some sort of eternal-motion-unstoppable device? Thanks in advance. MMalkavian

MMalkavian You are actually supposed to pull a hard negative g maneuver prior to landing as part of the shutdown procedure  I don't actually know though, doesn't make much sense for it to continue to run after cutting the fuel. I have yet to have a need to shut it down after so I haven't tried.
grunf Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) There's a button at the back of the throttle, just above the flaps. You've pushed it during the startup to release the throttle. Push it and the engine will shut down. Edited September 10, 2015 by grunf 1
MMalkavian Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 You are actually supposed to pull a hard negative g maneuver prior to landing as part of the shutdown procedure  Now I definitely have to try this technique :megalol: There's a button at the back of the throttle, just above the flaps. You've pushed it during the startup to release the throttle. Push it and the engine will shut down. Thank you very much. To be honest: I thought that was a simple lever-lock. Never noticed the button  Regards

grunf Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Thank you very much. To be honest: I thought that was a simple lever-lock. Never noticed the button  Regards Well, maybe it's not realy a button (looks like a lever), but as long as it gets the job done, it doesn't really matter. :D
Chrinik Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 The Throttle setting clearly reads "STOP"... While I agree that the engine should come to a halt if you deprive it of fuel and electricity, I am not too familiar with real MiG-21s to say that for sure. Maybe the respective systems never turn off completely after you unlocked the throttle to prevent soviet pilots from "accidentally" turning off their engine critical systems and not being able to restart them. I should try that mid flight and see what happens. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] GCI: "Control to SEAD: Enemy SAM site 190 for 30, cleared to engage" Striker: "Copy, say Altitude?" GCI: "....Deck....it´s a SAM site..." Striker: "Oh...." Fighter: "Yeah, those pesky russian build, baloon based SAMs." -Red-Lyfe Best way to troll DCS community, make an F-16A, see how dedicated the fans really are
QuiGon Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure about it, but I guess the fuel pumps are just supporting the fuel flow similar to the fuel pumps in the A-10. So as long as you don't pull hard maneuvers, use afterburner or something like that the normal fuel flow might be enough to feed the engine. But that's just my guess. Thank you very much. To be honest: I thought that was a simple lever-lock. Never noticed the button Regards I'm curious, if you've never noticed the button how do you get your engine to start in the first place? MMalkavian Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 I'm curious, if you've never noticed the button how do you get your engine to start in the first place? Well, of course I noticed the "button". I just didn't know it had another function aside from being a little metal lever preventing the throttle to move forwards. Regards
