... Is absolutely horrible

This can't be denied, and in my opinion should be worked on.

Everytime the server has a little lag it causes massive freezups for the players.

Anybody who is in combat at the moment that the lag occurs will guaranteed crash into a mountain,

So many times it has happened already, and it's ridiculous

I'm flying with my friend in the A-10C, a little server lag occurs and we both crash into the ground because of the sudden hickups.

And than there's the second thing:

Spazzing out.

One player has a bit of lag, he will start to bounce all over the place and kill everybody on the parking area.

Why is it so bad?

So many online games suffer lag, but only this game responds so extreme to it.

It's ridiculous.

Clearly an issue with your server / your connection, I don't have these issues on the popular MP servers I regulary fly on.

I'm mostly flying on the Virtual Aerobatics server and I have to say it's a problem with DCS' netcode. Close formation flight is almost impossible when the server got > 20 players as you will eventually lag into some other aircraft or vice-versa. I'm sure it's not my connection as everyone experiences the same issue and a 100mbit/s connection should be way more than enough for DCS. The server is located in a datacentre with a gigabit connection, so it's not an issue with the server either. It's just because of DCS.

Yeah that's what I mean...

Not all servers suffer this issue, but a lot of them too.

And because my friends always encounter the exact same issue as I do, I conclude it's not my internet connection.

The DCS network code was never intended to handle more than 8 or so players on a server. We have found on the Virtual Aerobatic server and in my Mustang Racing series that ADSL 2048 helps minimize lags and warps that happen from missing/corrupted data packets. Seems smaller packet sizes means less error when it is sorted out at the client.

In the racing series, I had as many as 15-18 pilots from Australia to Eastern Europe on the server (located in Arizona) at the same time. All were instructed to use ADSL 2048 and we had very little if any lag/warp issues.

The VA server experiences much higher usage from a wider range of clients, and there is no way to force the issue, so the server sees a good amount of warps. In almost all cases where people have switched from the higher settings to ADSL 2048, they have said the lag/warp issue was at least better than it was.

Give it a shot, let us know if it helps you.

Good luck,

Shahdoh
