Strelok Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Steam Open Beta seems to be corrupted. I downloaded only about 2,9 Gb update - (Im not sure if it is Ok or not because I saw screens from DCS updater with 7+ Gb update). It looks to me that updating and downloading DCS open beta via Steam seems to be somehow strange and unstable. (I had few problems with downloading it in endless loop or something) However after complete reinstall of DCS and many data integrity checks when I try run DCS it almost instantly crash with message "Error creating process" - nothing more. My system: i5 4670K GTX 980 OC 8Gb RAM Regards Strelok [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] -My DCS screenshots-
NahkaSukka Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I have the same problem. Data validation done, restarted steam. Damn game just wont start. I've been waiting 1.5 for a while and now when its available i cant play it. So frustrating.
NahkaSukka Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 ...Aaand found the solution. Just launch the .exe manually from X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\bin\DCS.exe http://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/490121928343664003/ 1

Cebo Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Open Beta on Steam How did you find the Open Beta on Steam? I opted in for Open Betas changing the settings on steam like described here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=182912431 I was not able to find DCS Open Beta on stream. Do you have a link to it? Thanks, Cebo

How do I go into options to change the resolution to a windowed resolution? Also, I tried turning off the 4k monitor and use only the laptop, but it stays stuck at 4k resolution. Thanks

Thanks I dont know if it works, but there is options.lua file at C:\Users\x\Saved Games\DCS\Config Open it with notepad and edit "height" and "width" lines. Or maybe if you delete the file, game options are then set to default settings.
Cebo Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I finally managed to get the Open Beta from Steam. Unfortunately it does crash if I launch it from Steam, same result if i try to start it directly by double clicking on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\bin. I ran "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE" in steam, it reacquired two files, but same result. A also deleted the DCS folder in Saved Games. Did not help. I am getting a Windows (Windows 7) pop up with this error details: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: DCS.exe Application Version: 1.5.0.45208 Application Timestamp: 560e60b2 Fault Module Name: MSVCR120.dll Fault Module Version: 12.0.21005.1 Fault Module Timestamp: 524f83ff Exception Code: c000001d Exception Offset: 000000000008ca90 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 4360 Additional Information 2: 43602ea9ace0b575a7f16a4c00554ce9 Additional Information 3: 14fe Additional Information 4: 14fee2782bbb4988cdf6abfd7c2d0ad5 Any ideas? strykerpsg Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) Okay, I had the Exception Error and none of my modules were present and wanted to be re-activated. I also was unable to see anything but a large chunk of the start up screen. I tried the earlier mentioned work around and was unable to see anything still. After a few hours of tweaking around and searching the forum's here, I decided to delete all local files and do a fresh install. All is good, except for MiG-21 still asks to be activated but is playable in game. It was a large re-install (20gb or so) and I think in the process of researching and reinstalling, ED replaced some files in the installer. Good luck to all in getting this up and running. It is after all, still beta, though in my opinion and a few minutes of flying around, see a much more lively world of better colors and life in general. Thanks ED for finally throwing us a bone...now get cracking on the 2.0 release and more importantly, releasing the NTTR. That and the A-10 I originally purchased, is what brought me into all of this. I dont know if it works, but there is options.lua file at C:\Users\x\Saved Games\DCS\Config Open it with notepad and edit "height" and "width" lines. Or maybe if you delete the file, game options are then set to default settings. NahkaSukka, I think ultimately the main problem I had is that I was using an external 4K monitor with my non-4K laptop monitor. I scaled the text and images on the 4K monitor to 125% for easier reading, while the laptop monitor was still at 100% only. Half of my startup screen on the laptop monitor, very legible and fit in the monitor borders. The other half of the startup screen on the 4K side, was unusually large and un-manageable. So, what I ultimately thought was a fault of the update, was equipment irregularities that was my own issue. My question to the ED team is whether or not it's possible to still leave my 4K monitor scaling and text set at 125% and still run DCS World on it? The only way I get it to work, is to go back and reset the 4K monitor back to 100%, but then all fonts and instruments are a bit tougher to read. Thoughts or ideas? Matt PS, also, I haven't physically flown the MiG-21 around, but saw it available in all the menu choices of Free Flight, Instant Mission, etc. It does still tell me my activation key is no longer valid and wants me to retry the activation, at which point it fails.
