Gargoil Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Hardware failure is not uncommon... things break all the time. I had a faulty PSU that fried my motherboard and graphic card while playing Arma 2
marluk Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 If you didn't overclock your graphic card it was near the end of life time anyway. Great that the oven fix it. Now you have time to save money for new one. And sell this one asap. [B]*NOB* Lucky[/B] [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Tko vrijedi leti, tko leti vrijedi, tko ne leti ne vrijedi
Hardcard Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Are you running DCS 1.5 with depth of field enabled? That setting increases gpu stress considerably, a GTX560 can't handle that. A GTX560 can run DCS 1.5, but you need to disable fancy graphics effects and maybe even lower resolution below 1080p. Also, the first time you ran DCS 1.5 your card's fans probably started howling like crazy and you didn't bother checking temps. I know because my previous card was a GTX560Ti and it used to howl like a cat in heat, XD. So DCS 1.5 didn't kill your graphics card, your carelessness did. codefox Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I'm running on a 560 (ti) and DCS works just fine with relatively high settings at 1080p. No overtemp or anything, not overclocked nor underclocked. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ophiuchus Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) Ha! I have EVGA GTX 560 and the same happened to me :D Now the GPU shows as Microsoft Basic Display Driver in Device Manager. What's funny, at some point I managed to uninstall every nVidia driver, and everything seemed to work fine, until I tried to install earlier drivers (355.82 as opposed to 355.98). I'm now after full system reinstall, and GPU seems not to want to cooperate ;) Edit: All right, I managed to restore my screen back, meanwhile nVidia published newer drivers, and I changed power management to prefer max performance in nvidia control panel under 3D settings. Hope that helps. Now I just need to install DCS back. Edited October 8, 2015 by ophiuchus Problem solved (?)
