Right now I have 2x4gb of 1333mhz, noname RAMs.

I'm getting some new hardware, among which will be 2x8gb g.skill at 1600mhz.

My question is, if I put all of the ram into my new mobo, thus have 24gb, will they be hampered by 1/3 running at only 1333mhz instead of 1600? Will that force the 1600mhz RAMs to work at 1333mhz?

Is it possible I'll get less performance than if I have only 16gb, but that running at 1600mhz?

RAM has never been my strong side, so I have no clue.

Thanks for help.

The memory will always use the speed of the slowest ram , so yes it will work at 1333mhz

but, its proven that memory speed barely has any impact at all on games.

also 16gb is enough for any gaming activity (i use 16GB without any page file and never had issues).

Yep the RAM will run at the slower speed, also it is not recommended to mix and match ram from different vendors, so just use your 16gigs of new RAM.

Just want to add my two cents, 16 GB is a perfect amount.

Also another reason for not mixing and matching ram is make sure it can run in dual channel mode or whatever your mobo supports.
