tezz311 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Hello everyone! I'm a third year games development student and I am beginning to embark on my final year project in which I am going to develop a private use only module on DCS world (may go public depending on the success plus rights aquirement). Right now I am just looking for guidance materials and advice on what it takes to develop a fully fledged third party (ED approved) module for DCS world. I already have the FM certification document and the Mod guide for the F104 example. If anyone has anymore information regarding the development process I would appreciate it massively. Thanks :)
cichlidfan Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 If it were me, I would choose something other than DCS. It is neither a very open, nor stable, platform. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
Buzzles Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) If anyone has anymore information regarding the development process I would appreciate it massively. In the nicest possible way, if you have to ask such a general question then you're not ready to take one on. There's loads of threads in the Mods and Apps subsections (and a bit on the wiki iirc), start reading the forum stickies in this section as they're great. After that move onto the F16/AFM project thread, lots of good info and the code is available on github/bitbucket. Once you've read that, go into your DCS directory and look for the API folder. There's a C++ solution that will interest you. Edited October 4, 2015 by Buzzles Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
tezz311 Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 I know such general questions aren't very useful. I'm in the early research stages of my project and would just like a nudge in the right direction sort to speak. I'll check out the API now thanks! :)
