Well,

although they're there I didn't yet try to play with it, because I feel that the default settings are very acceptable, but, I still don't get exactly what the semantics of the "0" setting mean ?

.) Does "0" mean - stay with the default settings for the rudder / aileron trim tabs, and if you change it these will be reset to neutral and the new value will be the one that se set, or...

.) "0" really means the trim tabs are centered, or...

.) Changing a value adds to the default trim tabs positions, without first reseting them to "0" ?

Thus, if I set the rudder tab at, say, 10, does this mean whatever the default value was, it is now "10" units ( whatever units they represent... ) or does it mean that it's 10 + whatever the default settings were, which will be exactly 10 if "0" means neutral... ?

I asked Sith about that in the other thread.

He said that "0" is the "recommended factory values", that means like ED has set them.

So any adjustment adds or subtracts from the original trim.

In the 109, 0 means 0 trim. There isn't aileron trim, or rudder trim, only elevator trim. 1 is 10 degree trim, -1 is -10 degree trim.

It is two different things jcomm and they are being confused.

Answers to most important questions ATC can ask that every pilot should memorize:

1. No, I do not have a pen. 2. Indicating 250

Ehh, guys, what jcomm was asking about, was the new option to adjust the rudder and aileron trim tabs in DCS settings in 1.5 beta.

And what Sith described is how ED has set them up.

Nothing to do with the ongoing elevator trim discussion.

Sporg, thx again :)

Yes, I am not asking about the "0" in the aircraft trim scale ( window ), but about the "0" on the new options for ground adjustable trim tabs for both rudder and aileron.

Sporg answered my question above - the "0" refers to the default deflections initially set by Yo-Yo when he modelled the aircraft.

Even though they can now be adjusted, I confess I didn't touch it because I feel it's good the way it is, and the aircraft is a charm to fly in any regimes.

BTW: After reading at another thread that it was not harmonious in it's controls, specially when performing aerobatics, I decided to give it a try, for a whole 30' of flight.

Loopings, rolls, hammerheads / stall turns, lazy eights, Cuban eights, himmelmans... whatever I performed was returned graciously by this module.

So... I love it :)

I was delighted to see the ground adjustable aileron and elevator trim tabs have a slider in the options page !

YES! I played with them too. I am now using a MSFFB2 stick and can see that the experience of flying with a FFB stick is COMPLETELY different from flying with a cheap spring extreme 3d pro.

With the spring loaded stick flying without trim is really painful and annoying. For this reason I was always very much interested in trimming the aircraft and sorely missed the trim tabs.

Now I have a Force Feedback stick, trim is not nearly so important as constant stick pressure is not annoying.

Anyway I still trimmed the plane a little bit more nose down so that the plane balances out at a higher power than default as we are flying online and not flying long distance at level cruise as they would have done in real life..

Thanks you so much for including this ! Большое спасибо :smilewink:

Oops , I found the ground trim tabs last night at 2am just before I went to bed and thought they were for the ailerons and elevators, but I was mistaken. They are for Rudder and Ailerons.

Anyway, now that I have a force feedback stick I find trim is just not an issue like it was when I had a spring stick.

Now when I think about all the threads about Bf109 trim issues I am quite sure that the guys complaining probably all have spring sticks and the guys enjoying the module probably all have FFB sticks.

I would suggest that a FFB stick is really necessary to get the most out of these WW2 birds. and DCS in general.

PS. I find that about 4 or 5 rudder left gives good, ball centred, almost hands off, balanced trim at climb power. Which is what I want for typical online flying. What I will be using the module for so I am still very happy.

Interesting,

I wonder how a FFB joystick and the new control stiffening algorithm interact ? Maybe the algorithm isn't applied the same way in the presence of an FFB controller ?

I would really like to be able to get one of those controllers in good shape... maybe one day on E-Bay...
