Are there any good user created guides to when to use BVR, when to use bore, flood etc? I am not asking about the mechanization, more the indication to use.

Against AI if possible?

I keep getting my ass kicked in SP against a myriad of Su-34's, Mig-29s, and the vehemently superhuman Mi-24 in "No Fly Zone" mission.

Perhaps I need to dumb down AI, like skill wise, and to reduce their missile payload so it ties to a dogfight?

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Flood and Bore mode are limited to 10nm sir so make sure you are not trying to use them outside of that.

I wrote about PRF usage which is crucial for BVR in this post some time ago - http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1954142&postcount=2

Hope it helps

One important thing to remember about radar, while it's your primary sensor, it's not the only one. Just like the A-10 relys on the pilot's eyes to spot targets, the same goes for the F-15. Don't get caught looking head down on a blank scope when there are obvious contrails outside the cockpit. They are really visible in 1.5 and as such I don't know about flying at 30000 ft anymore in MP (which I did all day with the older, less visible trails).

There are also some AI quirks. Annoyingly, they prioritize the player. They can be swarmed by your wingmen put still take a shot at you in the distance while you crest over a hill. Either try to attack first and then let your wingmen clean up, or send your wingmen in first and take advantage of the chaos they cause.

As far as specific radar modes, as Maverick said, the AAQ mods only work within 10nm, but you need to support them with visual assistance. Bore is not very useful if you don't know where to point it. From the beginning of the engagement, take note of enemy bearing (the radar tells you) and always look at it before you break away or when the radar lock is failing (flashing). This will help you reacquire.

I might want to add one thing.. You should remember that numbers are allways KEY.. Even the best of the best of the best cannot win when the numbers dictate it..

You need to understand when to press and when not.. If you press in a situation of 1 vs many you're probably going to die and there will still be one left.

For the WIN

If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.

Trust me, I scan the skies for contrails as I approach. Nothing like a 'fixed' fight, eh?

Well to some extent I tried using ground to hid myself from the radar, to get in close and use surprise element to defeat them. I am posting a video after this reply to demonstrate what I did. Its a short one but full of surprises. I'll also post the tacview from this video here.

The AI is dangerous because it is both aggressive and it often "magically" knows where you are, so you can't fool it like you could a human player. Even hiding behind a hill isn't very safe if you have 2+ AI bandits coming because they will find you right away and fire their missiles instantly when they have a shot.

But that sort of makes them predictable. I know it is not a good position but neither is climbing 15K higher and smackRAAMing them from 40 miles away.
