Tello Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Some time ago I saw in the news, that some fools were pointing pocket lasers on/into the cockpit on the planes that were about to land in Copenhagen airport. I then google a little and what I find on looked to be very dangerous for the pilots SA. My question: Is this a missing feature in DCS or are the modules we fly different in cockpit/glass design ?(it would seem odd to leave that out of public transportation liners though, but that is another thread) I have played several night missions in various modules and also killed tanks with help from TGP so the situation for me to be "lazed" by enemy gf have had it chance to show many times. yet I have never seen this kind of "break of lightbeams" in my cockpit. Or is it due to low settings or something completely different ? Thank you for reading. Sry if this have been asked many times before I just can't find anything on forums.eagle.ru [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Eagle0110 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I believe the lasers used in military are mostly in invisible frequencies... I could be wrong though. cichlidfan Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Yes. It would be rather bad if everyone could see where the targeting laser was coming from. QuiGon Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 What about wearing NVGs? Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

ФрогФут Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 While combat laser range finder is not visible (wavelength is usually 1.06 micrometers, while eye can see up to 0,76) it can still cause damage to eyes. It also does not fit into NVG range (which upper limit is somewhere in 0,9). There are safe "training" lasers, working at ~1,5 micrometers. Beagle One Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Laser range finders on MBT or IFV don't use a continous beam like a laser pointer.
