BSS_Vidar Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Is there an alternate path to installing skins into DCS? For some reason, installing the skins into the Livery P-51D folder in 1.5 now combines the original skins with the new skin resulting in a corrupted mess. Thanks a bunch. V
MTrenda Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Vidar, create folder Here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\Liveries\A-10C\ for the a-10C (example: 76th Task Force Blackjack) in that folder: put your custom DDS files in there with a description.lua file. My folder has these files: A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-a A-10C_76th FS_1-b A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-c A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-d A-10C_76th FS_1-e A-10C_76th FS_1-f A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-h A-10C_76th FS_1-j A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-L description.lua the Description.lua file should contain enrties like: livery = { {"A-10C_PAINT_1-a", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-a",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-b", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_1-b",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-c", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-c",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-d", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-d",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-e", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_1-e",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-f", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_1-f",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-g", 0 ,"A-10C_74th FS_1-g",true}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-h", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-h",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-i", 0 ,"A-10C_74th FS_1-i",true}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-j", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_1-j",false}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-k", 0 ,"A-10C_74th FS_1-k",true}; {"A-10C_PAINT_1-L", 0 ,"A-10C_76th FS_Falcon_1-L",false}; {"A-10_Number", 0 ,"empty",true}; {"A-10_Number_Noze_F", 0 ,"empty",true}; {"A-10_Number_Noze_T", 0 ,"empty",true}; {"A-10_Number_Wheel", 0 ,"empty",true}; } countries = {"USA"} True means use the default texture False means use the dds in this folder. There you go, you can put this in JSGME Mod in case they get removed. Hope this helps. thanks 76th Falcon MSI Creator X299 - INTEL i9 - 10900X 3.7 GHZ - 32 GB Corsair Dominator DDR4 - EVGA GTX 1080 FTW AC2
NeilWillis Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Or, you can create a liveries section in your saved games folder. C:/Users/*Name*/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries... or for the Beta: C:/Users/*Name*/Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Liveries... Within the Liveries folder, create the same file names as in the main liveries folder, and make sure you only have the skins in one or other location, and not both. This also works for aircraft with the core mods file structure just by naming the folders correctly within the liveries folder. For example, the MiG-15Bis would be C;Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Core Mods/aircraft/MiG-15Bis/Liveries/MiG-15Bis currently, but for the Saved Games file structure, it works as follows: C:/Users/*Name*/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries/MiG-15Bis I don't know why this isn't being used by everyone because it makes managing non-standard skins so much easier. Why has no one really caught on to this yet?
Buzzles Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I don't know why this isn't being used by everyone because it makes managing non-standard skins so much easier. Why has no one really caught on to this yet? I think it's because too many older skins still say to use the old structure in their instructions and there's no proper stickied post in the skins section or elsewhere stating how to do it the proper way. Which is a shame, as it's far less painful to use the Saved Games route. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
MTrenda Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 you guys are so right on this path, i forgot about it. The new custom skins path should reside in the saved games area. thanks for the reminder 76th Falcon MSI Creator X299 - INTEL i9 - 10900X 3.7 GHZ - 32 GB Corsair Dominator DDR4 - EVGA GTX 1080 FTW AC2
