Hey! Israel are the good guys... aren't they?

If good guys shell public beaches, shoot international monitors/women/kids and go against UN resolutions then yes they're the good guys.

One side is as bad/worse than the other in the middle east.

Exactly!

Ok, I apologize for missing that.

Back to the original topic...does anybody remember a computer game called "Strike Fleet"? Shooting down missiles with missiles was a HUGE part of surviving in that game.

Of course. Played it like hell on C64 but it was much better done on Amiga/ST (it had mouse support on those platforms). Those Backfires were really nasty (especially if you accidently used too high time acceleration:) since you didn't have carriers and Tomcats to keep them away. I liked how it was hard to actually sink any more capable Russian ship because Harpoons and Tomahawks are rather easy prey if the target has any decent SAM/CIWS systems. Would be fun if you had Iowas, though. After exchanging salvos of shot down ASMs, its guns would come handy if you manage to close the distance to around 30 miles. I certainly remember using Tico's guns to finish of Kynda class destroyers (Varyag, Golovko, etc.). I guess the A.I. wasn't advanced back then :)

Hehehe...I played the hell out of it too on the C64. The Soviet ships were actually really easy to kill, you just had to play defense for a while. I made charts on graph paper of the ships in the enemy fleet, and blocked off a section that represented the ASM load each one carried. (Yeah...I was REALLY popular in High School...NOT!!! LOL.)Then it was just a matter of checking off squares with each ASM launch until they were all out of ASMs. Then I'd close the distance and engage them with guns. The US ships had a slight range advantage with their guns. It sure kept you busy though with watching ASM launches AND keeping track of your own SAMs launched to intercept them.

I never did play it on the Amiga. My favorites on the Amiga were F-15 Strike Eagle II and F/A-18 Interceptor. My Amiga 500 was a pretty bad-a** machine...had a whole whopping 1Meg of memory. :megalol:
