warthogmadman987 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I was watching some lockon movie and i saw a really sweet clip. It showed a flyby looking at a town but there were lots of cars. I mean lots. I have civilain traffic turned on and i still never get that many lods on the ground. It was like a traffic jam, i bet there where 50-60 vehicles all sitting within a mile of each other a driving, not just sitting there. Is there a mod for this, or is there some setting where i can change how my vehicles i can have i certain areas? or do you thing the movie maker spent his or her time plotting courses for all those vehicles. (i cant remember which movie it was, but it is pissin me off!) Maybe if i find the vid i can let you know.
Shaman Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 You can add civilian vehicles, even entire collumns of those like any other active ground units in the game - with waypoints and such They are on the list. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted June 24, 2006 ED Team Posted June 24, 2006 The scene you're talking about was used in the latest movie "FLANKER". There really isn't any magic involved. You can create these kind of things in the mission editor. You have the option to place civilian cars, trucks and busses, in the same way you would place any other type of ground vehicle. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
warthogmadman987 Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 I was redownloading hot zone and flanker just to see if i could find the scenes. I new that you caould add vehicles. I am just wondering, in my opinion, i think without adding vehicles in mission editor, that there are too few civilain vehicles. Is there something that someone can do to multiply the amount of vehicles that ramdonly show up? Like make a mod for it? or can someone find the folder and maybe direct me to change it myself? is it something that is possible. I think that would make a good mod. Like in the cities, wouldnt they have more vehicles wandering around as it is? Help? for that matter could you also mod in more trains a civilain boats?
Guest Cali Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 That did look good, wish that many cars were in the towns and cities with having to add them.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 warthogmadman987 - what you gotta remember is that, whilst you can only see the occasional civilian traffic where you are on the map, that density of traffic is all over the entire map, thus is taking up processing power and if you increase the density, you'll get a big FPS hit. The other minor point is that you might expect very little civilian traffic in a war zone as the civilians sensibly stay home (except in Iraq from what I saw of news footage). Yeah that movie was Flanker by New Republic productions (Poko24 and Kivi21), great work for their first movie, link below for those who haven't seen it. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=16695 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! warthogmadman987 Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 britradardude- Thanks for the reply, and i had thought about that. i was just wondering though if they could set it so it is only processing the traffic within your terrain preload settings and possible visibility range. Maybe then you wouldnt have such a hit on fps. Correct me if i am wrong. But it also seems that none of this will ever happen since i dont know how to change it.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Yep, we have no contro over the civ traffic except ON/OFF. Dunno if the Devs will ever bother to make any changes to the Civ traffic, eg a density control. I am guessing it is a low priority consideration for them right now.. As to your point of only showing the traffic in your area/preload setting to save FPS, there would be the problem that you press an Fxx to change the view, eg several F2's to look at the view from one of your AI opponents 100km away. Now Lockon would have to calculate which of the civ traffic is within viewing distance of that point, check how long has elapsed into the mission and move them to where they should be and then they would pop into the view. Might look poor.... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
