Capn kamikaze Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I've managed to figure out how to launch the radar missiles in the tutorial, and I've since been trying to get the IR ones to fire, I've switched to their station, and made sure the little lever is in the up position, and that IR missiles are selected but I get no tone, I'm sat right behind an F-5, at about 1km (don't know if you do get a tone on the AA2) and I can't launch them. Any ideas, as I said, I was able to launch the R-3R, but not the R-3S.
Spectrum Legacy Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Only thing I can think of is either having the reticle in gyro mode (while you want to have it in Missile "CC" mode instead - that is mandatory for IR missiles iirc), or you have low/muted seeker tone which can be hard to hear when you are smashing it supersonic, or the pylons are not powered, or the missiles are not heated up properly. Gun/launch switch in launch position naturally, but that is required for SAR missiles too. Other than that, try different IR missiles to see if you notice any difference and get the lock tone buzzing. Maybe also the realistic IR reticle behaviour in the options special tab might be of some significance to this, I have it selected on and it works fine. Hope it helps. Capn kamikaze Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 Its ok, I figured it out, it was not in the "CC" mode. Jeez, what was MiG thinking with such a system, you should never need to check/flip so many switches to change from Radar to IR missiles, more respect to the pilots having to use it, that's for sure.
