Cannot update 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 or repair

So, downloaded and installed dcs 1.5.x beta earlier this evening (downloaded the latest installation files => DCS/1.5.0.45208.37 on the torrent) and wasn't able to play, so before anything, i decided to update so at least the latest version is installed.

 

DCS_Updater, however, doesn't agree and i can basically not download anything:

- cannot download the update (attached logfile)

- cannot install a10c module

- cannot run repair

 

i downloaded/installed the beta via torrent and it seems either the servers are down, or my computer or the DCS server decided that i can't access it.

 

Whatever it is, i'm stuck not being able to use the software at all.

 

system:

 

hardware

• i7-4820K@3.7GHZ
  
• 16GB RAM
  
• GTX780
  

 

software

• windows 10,
  
• Oculus SDK 0.8.0.0
  
• Nvidia drivers 359.00
  

 

additional info:

• installed on non OS drive (size related)
  
• fiddler shows no communication at all
  
• manually browsing to 'updates.digitalcombatsimulator.com' works, shows build statuses
  
• system clocks and dates are fine, doesn't seem SSL/HTTPS related
  
• In a different logfile (appData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta\) there is an additional DCS_Updater and a different logfile but the logs point to DCS\1.2.x which seems unusual being in the beta folder
  
• tried runnning a VPN but had the same responses.
  
• needless to say, internet works fine, downloads, including the torrent went very fast (<15m)
  

 

EDIT: some more stuff that came to mind:

• no update_info.json in appData folder
  
• no firewalls on either OS or router enabled
  
• ensured enough drive space on OS drive (SSD, >25GB available) so appData\Local\Temp folder lack of space for temporary download files
  
• all downloads stop immediately, no timeouts, started downloads or visual progress whatsoever.
  
• retried everything 'run as Administrator', same results

no custom antivirus, i just discovered windows defender was turned on but turning it off has the same effect.

i can safely assume that my issues yesterday were caused by the overlap between the old and the new installer and probably the lack of answers?

 

anyways, looks like it's finally updating :)
