Hopefully ED can reverse the order of how the updates work now and put http first.

My ISP automatically disconnects the internet whenever torrent traffic is detected. So when I went to update I lost my internet connection and had to call my ISP to get it turned back on. They gave me a warning and I even pointed out to them that this is a legitimate use of torrent but they have a zero tolerance policy.

And no, I don't have a choice in ISP's as they are the only provider available.

Wow. They can do that? Isn't that like against some net neutrality laws?

It violates net neutrality. I am not aware of any binding laws regarding ISPs though.

Edit: Well as the OP is in the US, there are indeed laws enforcing net neutrality. However a legal struggle with an ISP usually takes a lot of resources.

Call up your Congress Critter. Your ISP is being a Fascist and you live in a country that should not put up with that s_. If you don't get this sorted out you won't be able to install NTTR and that is Un-American.

Posted from a free country ... Australia. Ooops I posted too soon, pretty sure my BT installs in DCS are pretty heavily throttled :/

I can't believe they can actually do that legally. If a isp did that here they would immediatly get sued. Torrents have many, many legal uses in a lot of different fields.

I also don't get throtled when using torrent. 100mb/s always.

OMG, what an unfortunate situation...

Guys are right that an ISP should not be allowed to do this.

Meanwhile, here's a quick solution:

Please, put this file right near your autoupdate.cfg in the DCS OpenBeta install folder.

This will disable torrents completely.

Note for everyone else: I do NOT recommend disabling the torrents unless you have such an unfortunate situation as txmtb got into. We are closely monitoring how things are going and are working hard to give your the best possible experience.

Thanks c0ff!

I didn't know the ISP's rules and it's basically a mom and pop ISP as I dwell in the country, there's no cable/phone providers that offer an alternative to them. 3 miles down the road they have cable so go figure.

I agree that it's a bunch of BS that they do this, but basically to fight them would probably mean losing my internet until resolved.
