    • Please Bring Back SFM till AFM Ready.
    • Do not Bring back SFM. We can wait till AFM is finished.
    • Not Sure
    • I think things are how things are IRL. AFM not broken at all.

That's not what other air forces train for.

A 'standard' launch range for an R-27 (non-e) equipped opponent is ~20nm. Straight out of USN docs, too. So no, DCS doesn't have it right.

(Incidentally, Polish MiG-29 pilots trained to come 'no closer' than 15nm to an AMRAAM-equipped opponent until AMRAAMs were expended).

AIM-120's have been used well beyond 11nm in real life as well, and there is at least one recording out there on youtube where you can clearly hear them training to launch beyond 20nm as well. From hornets.

The question here is why they train to not launch beyond 11nm, when others train to launch much further. There are even be economic factors in this, or just due to the expected threat level.

If you see the F-18 MiG-21 kills, those hornets waited until minimum sparrow range to launch. Nothing like in-game where you'll get slapped in the face for such a thing ;)

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Yes of course, I´m inclined to the economic factor and low supply of them... and also keep in mind that we have older versions of B and C´s.

I agree about the rest of your post.
