gizmo Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Hi Guys, Planning to buy a monitor for my flight sim needs with a surround setup and was wondering which is the best suited for this? Following are the categories: 1) Curved Screen 2) Curved Wide screen 3) Wide screen 4) 4K UHD Would appreciate your feedback and honest opinions. Thank you Regards :helpsmilie: If you want Peace, be prepared to fight for it ! :pilotfly:
whaaw Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Nvidea Sorround (3screens) you cant go better than this. even with 3 small screens its more immersive than with any other setup field of view like occolus and resultion beyond 6000 pixels SFMBE
Demon_ Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I have 3 27" in portrait mode. I can't get rid of the bezels. One big screen is always better. In landscape mode the vertical FOV is not good. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
giei Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 1) 4k UHD WIDE curved 2) Oculus I'm flying since 1988 (Flight Simulator 3.0) :pilotfly:
blkspade Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Size. While my room is currently laid out to entertain, it was really enjoyable to sim on my 47" HDTV for the time I did it. With everything scaled up, the instruments remain pretty easy to read at that zoom level DCS shifts to when you get into the pit. Which improves FOV at the same time. Next to that I'd probably go for a 21:9 aspect monitor for the improved FOV without going multi-monitor at the true default zoom. I have a 27" 1440P monitor currently, but will likely either move up to a 34" 21:9 1440 screen or get a Rift when the CV1 is out. http://104thphoenix.com/
SharpeXB Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) 4K/UHD without a doubt is the best monitor for flight sims. If they start making 2160p 21:9 ultra wide screens that would be really cool but I don't think those exist yet. How about this! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?sku=1173766&Q=&O=&gclid=CKmRsqPJ88kCFQMMaQodBd0HLw&is=REG&ap=y&A=details You said "best" but didn't mention a price range, maybe $117,000 is too much?
