sunski34 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 When the M2000C has a 3 tanks configuration (2 RP Wings and one central RPL), when you jettison (RP) the 3 tanks go away. I think it's wrong... Just the central tank can be jettisoned. The wing tanks are only flushed...

Azrayen Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 A word of caution regarding this manual: it's early, outdated in some parts, and talks about a previous variant or the aircraft = No necessary relevant. ;) For example 1700l tank (manual) & 2000l tanks (current aircraft) are not the same. 1700l tanks are the RPL 501-502, 2000l tanks are the RPL 541/542. French aircraft 2000C RDI use only 2000l tanks (under wings), RPL 541/542. Now, this doesn't change anything re: the question at hand (but it could have). The trick is that, while the 2000-5 can drop selectively its RPLs (i.e. only the fuselage one, or only the wings ones), AFAIK the 2000C RDI cannot do this (it has to do with the aircraft, not with the tanks themselves) and has to drop them all together. = AFAIK, Razbam's current implementation is correct.

But there is no technical problem: the 501/502 can be loaded on the aircraft, it's fully tested & documented, it's just that France choosed not to buy them. Fun fact: AdlA lent some of its 541/542s to foreign Mirage (non-air-refuelable) for operations above Libya in 2011. I find as many time RP 541 as RPL 541 written. I know there is a "palette securité" (not modelized currently in DCS) for those tanks, I can't see its use if not for jettison safety. Here is what I was talking about. This little yellow/black stripped device is like an automatic safety pin: on ground, a mechanic takes it "out" (like it is on the picture). Out = 90°/aircraft axis. When the aircraft takes off, the relative wind pushes it back (// to aircraft axis), arming the system it protects. Razbam already modelized those for Magic & S-530D pylons. 2 others are currently WIP or missing on the aircraft itself (guns & decoy launchers).
