Celestiale Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) This is both a "problem description" and a "suggestion", so i don't know where to put this in. Problem: 95% of the time i play DCS i have a perfect frame rate (60+). But i realized, that as soon as you look at a carrier, respectively at the exhaust fumes of a carrier, my frames drop down to around 20. There is nothing else where this happens. Aircraft exhaust, houses exhaust, contrails, or other vapor/gasoline trails are doing nothing. Only that black ship exhaust fumes. While this is very unpleasent for me, when doing anything ship related, especially with helicopters, it makes the game unplayable for my wingmen, who uses an Oculus Rift. He normally has frames around 80+, but as soon as he looks at the ships, it drops down to 30, at that makes playing with Oculus impossible. So i hope on of those 2 things will happen: - This gets fixed OR - we have at least the option, to disable the fumes. I don't mind. Everything is better then the current situation. We completely stalled all our planned sea-helicopter stuff, because it's unplayable. system specs from me: I5 4670, Ati Radeon HD 7950 and GTX 970 (tried with both, same problem with both),20gb RAM, Win10, normal 1920x1200 screen system specs from my buddy: some expensive I7, GTX 980Ti,32gb RAM, Win7, Oculus Rift DevKit 2 and 1920 screen.. so i don't think it has anything to do with system specs. Celestiale Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) after further testing, we realized, that it's not the exhaust fume. It came just from this direction. After some flying around and watching out, i realized, that the frame rate loss occurs, as soon as i looked at a certain point at the coast..a town was nearby. My framerate dropped from 60 (vsync) to around 20. Checked it with other towns, no problem. It was only this one town. I will make further testing, until i have localized the spot/area, that causes the framedrop. Will report as far as i know.
