Hey guys, I really love this campaign and I think this should be a benchmark for all upcoming mission content for DCS.

However, I have some issues regarding framerates with some missions. Specially when I am close to the base/Airfield.

In general, I have stable 60 Frames in the sim, although I have everything maxed out, except traffic (medium), and flat shadows on.

But for example in the beginning of mission 2, it drops down to 30 frames. There is not much going on, a couple of humvees and Su-25s are passing by. So I was wondering why I have this frame drops.

Has anybody made similar experiences considering performance hits?

Cheers,

F

Hey,

Thanks for the kind words, Sir! I am glad you are enjoying the campaign.

It is true that for immersion there is quite a lot happening on the airfield, but not that much to actually make a difference in FPS.. I have a weaker rig than you and never had any problems. Having said so, try to reduce civ traffic to low, I heard it makes a difference plus (spoiler) it will make one or two missions easier for you ;)

Thanks for the tip, but that did not help. Still huge fps drop when I am close to the base ...

Mission 2 has a lot of static objects, but not around the base - on the way. Maybe the sheer number causes the FPS drop. Not much I can do, hope it will be better in next missions.

Had the same problem...

My System process was taking 3GB of RAM. A reboot and System process is back to a few MB and no more frame drop (Win10)

Each time DCS is taking a while to launch and I experience frame drops, I just reboo and that's ok. Don't know why but with a reboot, it's perfect (same kind of gear as yours i5-3570, 8GB RAM and R9 290X)

Hey bzhnono, thanks for the tip, but i am not sure if I got you right.

Are these the detailed steps you did:

1. Quit the game

2. Restart the computer/reboot

3. Restart the game

Thanks!

Maybe someone can explain me what he means with that sentence?

Thanks!

Don't know why but after each mission in DCS "System" Process takes more and more memory

Hey bzhnono, thank you for coming back to me.

So your tip is to make a restart after each mission?

Best,

FB

Just check your performance monitor to see if you've got the same problem as me : System processe taking more and more memory after each mission

Ok I got it. But in my case, the framerates are low from the beginning. I start the computer, start the sim, then mission 2 from the campaign and I have low frames.

Ok.

What are you settings ? your GTX770 has 2 or 4GB of VRAM ?

if 2 check that your VRAM is not full (I think there's a tool for nvidia card to know that) that may be the problem. Just lower a bit the details and it should be ok.

/just another guess...

I tried it lately with a friends card. It was a GTX 980 with 4 gig. Still only 30 frames in the beginning of mission 2.
