Ratfink Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I'm looking to replace the 2x4GB RAM sticks I have for 2x8GB for DCS 2.0, but I am a bit lost as to what to upgrade to. The HyperX Genesis I have are CL9, and this seems to be the closest match in 16GB... http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-hyperx-savage-16gb--2x8gb--1866mhz-ddr3-non-ecc-cl9-dimm-kit-of-2-xmp-hx318c9srk2-16-9QN7.html?refs=58280000-468530000-52290000-56090000&catid=15006&src=3 Also does CL9 or CL10 really make a difference? Kingston also have HyperX fury, which claims to auto overclock but are CL10. CAT_101st Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 The CL dose make little difference, it is the speed of the ram in Mhz that you are looking to upgrade. I see you have 1866 mhz ram. Your mother board is able to take up to 2600 mhz ram. You relay don't need more than 8gb of ram. Just get a higher mhz or overclock what you have. I run my 1866 ram at 1960 and it made a big difference in the speed of the PC over any other OC I did. Ratfink Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 So if I went with this http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-hyperx-savage-16gb--2x8gb--2400mhz-ddr3-non-ecc-cl11-dimm-kit-of-2-xmp-hx324c11srk2-16-9QN9.html?q=HX324C11SRK2%2F16&src=16 I guess I just need to set the XMP profile to allow the 2400MHz and though it's CL11, it will be more RAM and quicker too? Ratfink Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 decided to go with the HyperX in my OP. I know 1866 works well on my system as it is, no OC on any components and as long as I continue to hit over 60 fps then I 'm happy :) CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW Mid Tower | AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D | G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz | ASUS ROG X870E-E GAMING WIFI | Gigabyte RTX5080 Gaming OC 16GB | 4TB Lexar NM790 M.2 PCIe 4.0 | Seasonic Prime TX-1000 1000W 80 Plus Titanium Modular Power Supply | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity AIO 360mm | Meta Quest Pro | TM HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals | Win 11 Home | Asus PG348Q 34" 3440x1440 Monitor | Bose Companion 3 2.1 Sound
