pro-tip -- end mission immediately when you get "mission success"

grrrr.. i like to fly the mission to completion - ie.. fly all the way back and land

 

unfortunately, you can do everything right, targets destroyed, get a mission success message - and then still fail

 

all due to no fault of your own

 

the AI may get shot down in the course of the mission (i guess you could say you didn't do air-to-air good enough then huh?)

 

or the AI may take damage, and be RTB when the mission success message appears, and then on the way back, crash - and then you'll get the mission failed message

 

mission 7 was kicking my butt -- for these reasons...
