Flamin_Squirrel Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Hi guys. I'm putting a concept together for a setup, potentially using metal support channel. Although not complete, the image below should give a good idea of what I'm aiming for. I was thinking of unistrut or similar, but, being steel (and fairly heavy duty, generally 41x41mm) I think it might end up being stupid heavy. Does anyone know of a similar customisable support system that might be better suited? Many thanks.
Thick8 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Do a search for extruded aluminum frame. You will find square channeled tubing that you can put together like an erector set. http://www.zoro.com/faztek-t-slotted-aluminum-structural-frame-extrusions/g/00061963/ All of my posted work, ideas and contributions are licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0,) which precludes commercial use but encourages sharing and building on for non-commercial purposes, ©John Muldoon
metalnwood Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 yep, often called 8020. Depending what suppliers in over there, it's not cheap and some areas getting similar stuff is not easy. If you can get it at a good price, it's what you are after.
Flamin_Squirrel Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Thanks guys I'll take a look.
